Do you think this would pass the NOC 4012 requirements?

XX was employed as a teaching assistant (TA) starting September 2007 until February 2010. During this period, XX had a workload of forty hours per week, which were split to an average of: twenty teaching hours, ten grading hours for grading examinations and laboratory reports, four office hours for conducting discussion groups, four exam proctoring hours and two hours for administrative load and office work. His annual salary was a total of XXX per year.

Please give me your opinion. A second refusal because of work experience would be devastating!

strange! so, they send me an email today as a reminder to submit the documents I sent them two month ago!!! I even sent them an email about a month ago and they acknowledged the receipt of the documents! Any thoughts?

Does your CAS show the line of "We started processing your application on ..."? If so, don't worry. They apparently made a mistake. Last year, they asked my friend to provide a letter from York university, while he had never been in that university. Just let them know about their mistake. They will probably ask you to discard the reminder.

Ask yourself, are you really doing 40 hours of TA? That will certainly rise suspicion, as you would have not time to do research during your working hours. I would add exactly what you were doing. marking how many assignments, which course are you teaching, and how it was organized. It is lacking details in my opinion.

no, it doesn't show that! but I heard that it's not a very reliable source. I sent them an email with the previous correspondence and asked what I should do.

Write more details. It doesn't hurt. I would say by this description, you are on the border line. A tough officer may reject this. and 40 hours is a little too much.

Well, according to the titles on the NOC description page, it doesn't have to be teaching and research assistants. Two of the titles re:

teaching assistant – post-secondary
teaching assistant – university

So, would I conform to that?

And as for the forty hours, this is not an exaggeration, it's a fact!

Just for your information, here are what my supervisor provided regarding my RA duties.

"XXX has been conducting laboratory-based state-of-the-art research in the area of Environmental Engineering, specializing in drinking water disinfection by-products. More specifically, she is discovering details concerning the formation of certain by-products that may be formed during drinking water disinfection such that their formation may be reduced or avoided in the future. She designs and performs the experiments, and we discuss both the experimental design and results. She writes project reports to funding partners when requested. She has given several presentations on her work at local, national and international conferences. This is all in addition to writing up her work so that it can be published in peer-reviewed journals (xx papers published in the major journal in this topic area so far)."

Anyways, I'm not too surprising given the number of rejections got recently due to similar reasons. As much as I'm a bit upset right now, I guess they just made the decision for me in this regard and I'm not planning on appeal (I know it's pointless at this level anyways) nor reapplication for now. There are more to life than PR application for me at the moments and I think I'll put my focus and effort on other things. Maybe I'll give it a try later through other streams when the timing is right.

What do they want then? It is even more complete than my 2nd reference letter . They are kidding us! Did you show number of hours worked as an RA? Did your letter clearly state that you work as a Research Assistant at ***** university. Maybe you selected a wrong NOC code. There should be something very small hidden somewhere that we do not notice! Did your letter state clearly that you are assisting a university professor?

Unbelievable. This is ridiculous. You wrote it perfect. What else can we write for our RA? I pretty much wrote the same lines in my new app, and I expect a second rejection now.

It's more like, they're playing with our lives, time, and budgets. People spend 1-2 K for their apps, and they rely their future on this.
If they're backpedaling, they should've closed this category in 2013.

this is the most detailed reference letter i have seen....unbelievable that they rejected this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
