They asked me for 6 months of bank activities, updated PCC from FBI (they were the one who let it expire by making me waiting for more than a year), and PCC from Indonesia (given time until May 26), which is crazy since I haven't lived in my country for more than 6 months since the age of 17!!! At least an update all the same...

Hi all,

I am in the process of applying through the phd stream.
I satisfy all the requirements, however the only thing
that I am now afraid of is the fact that my passport is
expiring in the 30th of May 2013. I am applying for a
passport these days (and I will get a document from
the embassy that proves that I am applying), however
I am a bit nervous. My study permit also expires in the
30th of May and I cannot apply for renewal unless I get
a new passport (I guess). The embassy told me that it
will take 2 to 3 months to get my passport and I'm
afraid that this is going to be late, and the cap will fill
until then..

Any feedback on my situation? Many thanks in advance..

You need a new passport to apply, so apply for one asap.

Hi guys,

Could anybody please let me know how I can get an "official letter" confirming my PER? I need it and they don't accept the email printout.

Thanks

I am also need of such letter. Is there way that letter will contain all the names in the application rather than only the principal applicant?

So that one can apply OHIP for all members in the Application.

Hehehe, at least it's a good news, Congratulations. :) You know what, I got rejected on the basis of the reference letter which I provided did not match their requirements :( Kinda frustrated. And my IELTS score has been expired, what a good news for me. :)

CIC doesn't issue hard copy "official letter" if you provided your e-mail address in your application package, you can give it a try though.

I'm sorry to hear that. It's so unfair that Feb and March applicants have to wait too much before hearing negative decision (if positive, I think it would turn out to be roughly the same timeframe). Have you prepared a new application? I think you should have enough work experience from TA/RA alone this time (without having to rely on your foreign work experience back home or adaptability).

So that one can apply OHIP for all members in the Application.

The only 'official' correspondence from them is the the email. Tell them that it's the only one you got, ask for eligibility form, then appeal. This has been the only way so far that we can obtain OHIP. It will take time, but then again, you won't be eligible for coverage until three months after PER anyway, so by the time you got your card, your waiting period will be over. So to summarize, the steps are as follows:
1. Go to ServiceOntario
2. Have them reject you, then get the eligibility review form from them
3. Appeal on the basis that you are eligible since you are eligible to apply for PR (the requirement is to be eligible to APPLY for PR, NOT to be eligible for PR, two different things; PER satisfies the former, not necessarily the latter, but OHIP only requires the former)
4. Wait for acknowledgement letter (about 1 month)
5. Wait for positive decision (about 3 more weeks after the acknowledgement letter)
6. GO back to ServiceOntario
7. Now you get the coverage (but by this time, you've probably not yet hit 3 months after PER)
8. Wait until card arrives (another 6 weeks)

Once I got that email, I almost had a heart attack, since it didn't have the subject as medical request, I thought it was a rejection.

Thank you for your reply.

I am applying now, however as I said, they told me from
my embassy that my new passport will be in my hands
in minimum 2 months.

So it's final? I cannot apply if my passport expires in the
end of May, even if can prove that I applied for a new
passport?

did u apply with overseas work experience or RA/TA or both..?....and what do you mean by your reference letter didn't match their requirements...do u mean a job description mismatch??....i'm sorry to hear this but have you considered appealing their decision?

Is there any fast way of getting police certificate for Iranians? I already applied and I received one after I applied for Immigration, but this one is also expired. Do I need to apply for another one?

Just got the news. I am really sorry for you. I do not understand how come it didn't match with their requirements. They need only one year full time or equivalent hrs part time work experience right? And if I am not wrong you also had experience from your back home. Do you mind to post the reply you got from them? I know you are not in that kind of mind but may be someone could give you a better suggestion. Keep in touch.
Take care

Hi there,
