And what is the new requirement starting from May 2013?

Can anyone please give me a website? I was looking for this on CIC, but under FSW, there is no such info.

Thank you!

Can't put a link here. Just google "Regulations Amending the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations august 18".

Hi Masoud,

Could you please let me know how much was that large deposit? What was the exact reject email that you received? did they mention the large deposit in their email? and did you include all tranactions of your account in the report you gave them? Was it an official report?

Your help would be much appreciated.
Thanks

I showed almost 15 K when I applied. 6 months later they asked an updated statement and my balance was almost zero by that time. So basically I had to deposit the whole amount and they did mention that again three month ago and was not convinced that it was my own money. This last time I showed 6month statement with the balance of 15 K and the average balance was more than 12K.

I saw some rejection in the thread due to insufficient fund or large deposit. so I just want to ask how much fund in bank is supposed to be sufficient?

Is there a number in some document that I missed?

thanks!

Used to be almost 14K, not sure if is still the same.

A question about post graduate work permit:

I applied for PGWP, a couple of month ago online and chose to extend my wife's open work permit as well (she has been working in Canada over the past three years on an open work permit).

Here is what they have requested me:

"To make your spouse eligible for a work permit, you must submit proof that you are currently employed. This proof can be a copy of your employment contract or job offer letter. In addition, please submit copy of a few pay stubs."

Isn't weird? How can I be employed without having a work permit?!

BTW, shouldn't they extend my wife's work permit without such a condition?

Anyone has experienced this?

Many thanks

Does any one know if our PhD studies (RAship) will be counted as the requirement (1 year of full time work) for Canadian Experience Class?

I think after you get your PGWP she is allowed to have an open work permit as well. You should let them know that you applied to get your post graduate work permit already.

Thanks, TyrusX.

I applied online and received their reply in myCIC account through 3 separate messages: one requesting my final transcripts, another a letter from my university and the third asking what i mentioned in my previous message.

My wife's work permit extension request in already included in my PGWP application. Could it be possible that they are processing these two permits separately?

It used to be, but not anymore after 2013, check the section 9.11 at the following OP's link :

No idea. Why?

So they finally updated the current total no. of PhD applicants' webpage, http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/complete-applications.asp
Currently 42 of 1,000 (as of December 27, 2012).

also available in the site was the following statement:

"The first cap year for the PhD stream closed October 31, 2012. The new cap year began on November 1, 2012 and will end on October 31, 2013, unless otherwise indicated by the Minister."

GUYS :

Applications received from PhD applicants:

CIC will accept 1,000 applications for processing per year under the PhD stream. Applicants under this stream have either completed at least two years of study in Canada towards a PhD or graduated from a Canadian PhD program in the 12 months before their application is received.

Find out more about eligibility for this category.

The first cap year for the PhD stream closed October 31, 2012. The new cap year began on November 1, 2012 and will end on October 31, 2013, unless otherwise indicated by the Minister.

Applications received toward the overall cap: 42 of 1,000 (as of December 27, 2012).

FINAAAAAALY !

You should be seeing some PERs the coming few days :)
