Thanks, do you think it'll make much difference in terms of response time if we choose email over letter?
Which would be preferred ?

Calm down, guys. CAIPS will not change anything. Be patient!

It will help to know what is or what is not happening behind the scenes. As I became a pessimist, I would say not much.

Don't worry TyrusX, there's always a balance of optimism coming from myself. After all we need a bit of both.

5 dollars= caramel latte at Deville coffee. So delicious ;)
But seriously, I will request it if I haven't heard from them by January.

Hi, I think we should check the Access to Information Act here instead of Privacy Act .
See below explanation:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/atip/index.asp

Access to Information Act

The Access to Information Act gives individuals a right to access records under the control of a federal government institution in accordance with the principles that government information should be available to the public, that necessary exceptions to the right of access should be limited and specific and that decisions on the disclosure of government information should be reviewed independently of government.

You may make a request under the Access to Information Act for information under the control of Citizenship and Immigration Canada.

Privacy Act

The Privacy Act protects the privacy of individuals with respect to personal information about themselves held by a government institution and provides individuals with a right to access and request correction to this information. In accordance with section 7 of the Privacy Act, personal information can only be used in accordance with the purpose for which the information was collected or for a use consistent with that purpose.

Information protected by the Privacy Act can only be disclosed with the consent of the person to whom it relates or in accordance with the exception terms of subsection 8(2) of the Privacy Act.

You may make a request under the Privacy Act for your personal information held by Citizenship and Immigration Canada.

Also regarding the "Location", should we put Buffalo, USA or CPP-Ottawa??

I disagree. I read through it and my opinion is Privacy Act. Besides, ejamal did it that way and got his info and he already got his visa granted.

All:

Privacy Act is for the ones who are already in CANADA and applying for his/her file.

Access to information ACt is for the ones who are abroad, but has a friend or relative in Canada. And relative applies on his/her behalf. Applicant has to have a consent form for that, and $5 fee. They again apply in Canada on your behalf...

Pick one!

Hi,

I heard that since I am in a Quebec, I need a proof that I won't stay at Quebec when I graduate to be eligible for PR under PhD stream. What kind of proof I can present?

Thanks

Will a full time job offer affect my FSW- PhD stream application?

Hi everyone,
I have a very important question that might affect my entire career. I have an offer to work full time job in the same field I am doing my PhD in. I will still keep my PhD going on working on it in my own time and may be I will take a work-day off to do so with permission and full Knowledge of my manager. My question is: will all of this affect my PR application that was received March 2012 and got the PER for on April 2012?
Please let me know!
P.S. I called the immigration guys on the phone and they told me they think that would not affect anything but they said they are not 100% sure and that I should contact the Central Intake Office!
