The thing is when you apply on schedule 3 "economic classes" you have to list your liabilities (10 b)which means your credit card balance. If you don't include it and they ask you for a full history of all your accounts then you will be in trouble. I know it does not make it easy for most people :(
I do not think they ask for credit card history or I never heard anyone asked to show the credit card history as well. But definitely if you just take cash advance from your credit card and put into your account just before submitting the statement then you will be in trouble in that sense that they might suspect from where you got those chunk of money suddenly. It would be really nice if the other applicants who have already asked for bank statement could share their experience.
I think this would be an interesting topic to know in detail.

Hi Karmen--Could you please share your Bank statement request experience. What exactly they asked and what you have provided. Thanks in advance.

To all who were involved in the discussion about re-entry to Canada from Us:

I just to talked someone in immigration office at Pearson airport. She double-checked with her manager and confirmed that Alaska and Hawaii are included in the regulation of re-entering Canada without valid visa.
She said it used to be just the main land of US but it's been changed to include Alaska and Hawaii as well.

So, I am going!

Hi guys, I am new here, my application was received at CIO on October 1, 2012. I have been following up this forum for more than one month before applying, it is really very useful.

Could you please add me to the Immigration Tracker (spread sheet), I am applying with 2 years of RA/GA experience from Canada and 2 years of GA experience from my home country.

This is probably not news for a lot of people here, but I'll share it with you guys anyway. The immigration specialist at my school has just confirmed with the ministry that the PER letter (from the PhD stream) is sufficient to waive international student fee (so you'd be considered a local student from the point you receive your PER if you're applying through PhD stream). Here is an excerpt from her email

I just received formal word from Institutional Analysis and Planning that the Ministry has confirmed that the letter you have is sufficient to warrant domestic fees providing that you have applied for PR under the FSW program as a PhD student. The Ministry will be issuing a formal notice to all institutions about this.

I'm assuming that they (the ministry) would make it clear once and for all, and all universities and colleges in Ontario would be positively affected with regards to the PER letter. For some universities like University of Western Ontario, York University and University of Ottawa, this may not be a big deal, since they probably have already had the correct interpretation anyway, but my friend told me that University of Guelph literally asked for the PR card to get the international fee waived, and this would be a great news for those who applied under PhD stream and got their PER already :)

Great news regarding the Tuition, but any news regarding the cap, I just applied 2 days ago but I am afraid that I have applied after the cap was reached.

Does this policy work for universities outside Ontario in Canada?

Thanks a lot

Not here in Nova Scotia. Besides, by 2 years of your PhD (when you qualify for this stream - because you need a min of 2 yrs), the differential fees portion for foreigners would be significantly reduce. So it doesn't matter much. Not sure about other provinces.

This is great news. My school also asked for full status and won't take PER letter to go from International to Domestic fees.

Any idea when this notice will be sent to the universities?

Hopefully soon. Yesterday they adjusted my tuition (and my funding as well) to reflect domestic rates, and I believe they did it for several other students as well, but they haven't even made a university-wide announcement about it. I think for schools that are of the opinion that a PR card is necessary for domestic rates, we would really need to wait until the ministry really makes the announcement. Or you can probably try by referring to the York University website, or even the University of Waterloo (though the UW does not have any information about it in its website yet).

Hi The_Prince, can you provide more information before I can add you to the spreadsheet (such as nationality and such)?

I am from Egypt, application reached CIO on October 1, and I applied with 4 years of TA/RA experience, 2 from Canada and 2 from home country.

Good news!!
Today I have granted the OHIP, I have received a letter from OHIP review committee which confirms my eligibility after they confirmed from CIC. But they said it will be activate from 3rd Nov,2012 since by that time i will finish 3 months from my PER. That means once someone finish 3 months of their PER then they will get this facility. This service is now provided for one year but they mentioned if I have not received my PR by that time then I can use this letter to renew for one additional year.
Good luck to other PER's for OHIP.
