Hello everyone

I have a few question about my case, I did my undergraduate in my home country and came to Canada to do my M.Sc in Biology on Sept 2010. Recently, I transferred to PhD program in my university and all my study within M.Sc counts towards my PhD. I spoke to our department and they told me that they would state in my registration letter for CIC that I am currently a PhD student and I started my graduate study toward completion of my PhD from Sept 2010. However, before transferring to PhD, I applied online to extend my study permit when I was officially a M.Sc student and they have my application as a M.Sc student several months ago.
Here are my questions
1) Would I be eligible to apply under PhD stream as I transferred from M.Sc and they have my application to renew my study permit for M.Sc several months ago ?
2) Can I apply use my GRA as work experience for apply under FSW2 as a biologist (NOC 2121) as all my duties in the lab is similar to responsibilities description for this code?

I should tell that I have a one year work experience as a English instructor in my home country. I was wondering if I can use this experience for any of these categories?

Thanks a lot everyone

1) I see no problems with that, you should be ok.
2) Yep, you can use you GRA. You may want to add you Instructor experience if you have the proofs.

The CIO usually takes forever to reply to emails. What I did was I called the call center using this number: +1(888)242‑2100, and after waiting for roughly half an hour (not exaggerating), they finally answered. Let me know how it goes :)

Hi sam001, as I mentioned, the CIO would take forever to reply through email, so it's best that you try to contact them by some other means.

To respond to an NER that is possibly due to their mistakes, I believe several members here have followed the following:

http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/how-to-deal-with-an-unfair-ner-a-negative-eligibility-review-t67741.0.html

If you got your NER overturned to PER, can you share your appeal wording with us? I think it would be helpful to a lot of people facing similar circumstances :)

Hi asbereth ,
I have tried calling this number, but it ends after few recorded message...

Hi sam001, it may take several tries, and it can take up to 45 minutes before any of them would respond to your call. Just be patient :) Also, what are you planning to ask them? About the 5 adaptability previous study points?

Hi,
I wanted to know why I did not receive email but my status shows "In process" for last 5 weeks. as far CIC's specification "In process" means you are eligible and your processing has begun.

I didn't receive the email 2 months after the "In process" status, so don't worry ;)

Did you get that email now?? or you are still waiting for the email?? that does not make sense actually. As they clearly said in the CIC website "In Process" means you are eligible and processing has begun. anyway thnx for your reply. :)..

Yes, I received that email a while ago.
There are several rounds of evaluation. In my case, the status changed to "In progress" when they had reviewed my application for valid signature, letters, etc. for the first time (No email was sent)
After that, it took them a while to evaluate my application (again) in details, such as checking if my employment letters are legitimate, my total working hours add up to 1 year of experience, et. The PER email was issued to me after this step.

As I mentioned before, I had a mistake in background form(IMM 56669).
First, I sent an email to Buffalo. They replied that this is a process being done in CIO and wanted me to contact them.
Then, I sent an email to CIO. They replied me and wanted me to send the updated form.
I have sent the updated form to them.
Just I wanted to share my experience in case the same thing happens for someone else too.

This is curious. I wonder if our documents have even being sent to the Visa Office or if they CIO needs to get the document first before sending to buffalo.

I don't know.
Maybe because I have applied one month ago, it is not sent to Buffalo yet.

How long did it take that CIO reply your email?
I have sent them an email a week ago but there I have not received any response yet.

I sent an inquiry email to this address (CIO-Sydney-Search-Enquiry@cic.gc.ca) before twice, they replied in two weeks. Be patient.

Is there any one who investigate if we are eligible for open work permit after we receiver PER before PHD graduation?
