i was wondering if anyone can clarify this...i will be applying as a family of three...myself, my husband and my son, born last year, here in canada...so technically my son doesn't need a PR and he has a canadian passport...so should i show settlement funds for 2 people or for 3 people?

If your son has canadian passport, he is probably a born citizen. And also, as he doesnot need PR, u r not going to apply for him. So, in my opinion, u have to show funding for the applicants - yourself and your husband.

You don't need to show settlement fund for your son as he was born in Canada, you just have to show for yourself and your husband.

I only had TA and RA work experience for the last 6 years.

So maybe we should add another column in the spreadsheet about using TA/RA as working experience or not?

I am from humanities background. I am not sure if I am eligible to apply in this category as I heard that only applicants from science and technology background are considered. Are there any applicants from the humanities background who received a positive reply (in process)to their application.

Look, I heard this as well, it may be the case. HOWEVER, I read a lots of instructions guides, and there is no such a statement in any legislation, guide, or procedures I could find.

All eyes (at least mine) will be on you and s.guo82, since, according to the timeline, any of you should expect to get PER soon. Hopefully we will get some news really soon. It does look like that the RA/TA only applicantions take longer to process. Anyway, what other work experience did you include in your applications?

As TyrusX mentioned, I don't it was ever mentioned anywhere that only science and technology applicants will be eligible for processing. Provided that your application is proper, I think all should be fine. I might be wrong though...

anjuku, I think you do need to provide proof of funding for three people, since he will be your dependent while you're in Canada. Hope things work out. But look on the bright side, you can claim 5 extra adaptability points, making it for sure that your tally will be above 67 (provided they recognize at least one year of continuous work experience) :D

I only submitted a letter from my supervisor that included the details of my RA appointments and a letter from the undergrad chair of my department detailing my TA appointments for past 3.5 yrs.

Hi AF___, how many years of work experience outside RA/TA did you include in your application?

yes asbereth...i'm planning to show settlement funds for all 3 members, just to be on the safe side...and as you said, the points part is not an issue...i have 60 points already without my ielts (which i'm planning to take on saturday)...the only issue is whether they will accept the RA/TA work experience ::)...fingers crossed!

Hi, asbereth, I don't have any work experience other than TA/RA. I included letters from most of the professors whom I had TAed for in the past, and a letter from my supervisor as well.

It does look like that it will take a bit longer for applications with only TA/RA experience to process. Looking at the time-line though, either you or s.guo82 should be expecting a PER any day, which, if you will get it, will confirm that TA/RA experience does count for immigration purposes. Hopefully we'll hear the good news soon :D
