Hi all,

I am sharing my RA reference letter that I have submitted with my application. I would highly appreciate inputs from all of you specially the senior members about the strength of this letter and what I should add to it to increase the chance of acceptance.

Many thanks

Dear Sir or Madam:

I am pleased to write in support of the application of XX, my PhD Student, who is applying for Permanent Residency in Canada under the skilled worker. I have been
the main research supervisor of XX since his arrival in Canada in January 2011. As a Research Assistant in Chemical Engineering, XX has been assisting me by:

• Conducting reviews of previous literature;
• Performing numerical analysis, simulation experiments and physical experiments in research that will ultimately be published in his thesis and in journal articles.

his position as a research assistant is full-time at $40/hr with gross annual earning of XX $. XX is a very capable doctoral student and a fine person. I am pleased to support with enthusiasm his application for Permanent Residency.

Hi All,

I received the 'ready for visa' letter from CPP-O an hour and a half ago. I would be submitting my passport via Canadapost tomorrow. Do we have to print a copy of the letter and send it along with the passport?

My ECas still has not been updated to 'Decision Made' !

Congrats again to those who received their Visa's and PPR's

Finally received the passport back with CoPR today! :) It was actually sent back on Thursday. Visa was issued on the same day I got the passport request. Hoping to land sometime next week. Will update you guys...

Oh, and I still can't access eCAS! :D

Great ! Where do you plan on completing the landing formalities?. Also, could you let me know as to how long it took Ottawa to mail your passport back?. I am trying to estimate the timeline so as to complete other stuff such as gathering supporting documents for my landing.

Thanks !

Yes, in the ready for visa letter it is mentioned that a copy of the request letter along with the passport and photos should be mailed to them.

I received my GCMS notes today and I got 74 points in total. Though it is enough for eligibility, I'm wondering if I was supposed to get 5 more points for past work in Canada? I received 5 points for adaptability (due to my master's degree in Canada). I don't have any work experience other than RA/TA. Does the work need to be under work permit to be counted or was I supposed to get 5 more points for RA/TA experience?

Hi RA_toronto:

Can you please share more about your GCMs. As your file was recently transfered to ottawa can you already see your due dates, who reviewed your file at CIO and whom your file is assigned for next eligibility review in Ottawa. I am also thinking to order my GCMs too but wondering whether we are able to see any information already.

My status on ECAS shows my medical results received and "Decision Made", but they haven't contacted me yet.

As you are from a Visa exempt country, CIC does not have to affix the counterfoil on your passport. The COPR would just be mailed to your address.

I'm in BC. So, it's either going to be Peace Arch or Pacific Highway, depending on whether I'll make a trip to the US or not. It took about 16 days for the passport to be returned back after CIC received it. I saw another thread here where a passport return tracker has been set up. It will you give you a better idea. Good luck!

Hello,
Does any one knows if the 1000 cap for PhD is still open or not? Moreover, anyone from Iran who did Educational Credential Assessment (ECA)? Which designated organization do you recommend?
Thanks for your help in advance.
