my file reached sydney by Nov 15 (my info is in the tracker) and they just send me doc request today. Bank 6 months activities has to be send in one month and police certificate in 3 months. I have all my money in my TFSA account and I have sent that TFSA statement to CIC with my application (There's two statement per year for TFSA account) but it seems it's not enough. My everyday chequing account is only for my household spent and it never goes more than 10k. Hopefully they will consider my funds in TFSA account!

Some people who got document request in January, got their medical request recently. I am going to Iran for around a month. I still did not get my medical request, but in case I get it when I am away, is it possible to do the tests in Iran? (If someone sends the medical forms to me)
I heard that some people did it before, but I am wondering if we still can do it or not.

Hi MH_A, I don't think you will have to worry about getting medicals while you are in Iran. It looks like that they're just trying to streamline the process by checking every application that is missing the bank statement history, and send them these requests to expedite the later processing. Though it is also likely that those that got document requests have already deemed eligible for PR, we have one or two cases where rejection due to eligibility (not POF, or admissibilities) happened after document request, so it is still really hard at this point to make any kind of conclusion yet.

Did you include the 6 months worth of activities for your TFSA account? And did it have more than the required threshold during the whole 6 months? And do you currently have more than the threshold and for all days during the last 6 months? If so, there there shouldn't be a problem. Just send them the bank statement history for TFSA the soonest you can (also your checking account as well, more money always helps).

Please note that this are specific instructions for Mexicans. All the Mexicans I know with PR have been requested this police certificate right before Medical. And it has a special procedure because we don't get the police certificate directly, we send our info the Canadian embassy in Mexico and they request it for us and send it to the Visa office directly. Please, confirm you saw this cause last time I seemed that you missed my post.

The only 'official' correspondence from them is the the email. Tell them that it's the only one you got, ask for eligibility form, then appeal. This has been the only way so far that we can obtain OHIP. It will take time, but then again, you won't be eligible for coverage until three months after PER anyway, so by the time you got your card, your waiting period will be over. So to summarize, the steps are as follows:
1. Go to ServiceOntario
2. Have them reject you, then get the eligibility review form from them
3. Appeal on the basis that you are eligible since you are eligible to apply for PR (the requirement is to be eligible to APPLY for PR, NOT to be eligible for PR, two different things; PER satisfies the former, not necessarily the latter, but OHIP only requires the former)
4. Wait for acknowledgement letter (about 1 month)
5. Wait for positive decision (about 3 more weeks after the acknowledgement letter)
6. GO back to ServiceOntario
7. Now you get the coverage (but by this time, you've probably not yet hit 3 months after PER)
8. Wait until card arrives (another 6 weeks)

So, I went to Service Ontario today, got happily rejected, and got the Eligibility Assessment form! (I think the lady was surprised that I don't argue with her for being rejected!). I have two questions now:

- What documents did you guys send along with your appeal? Any original documents such as study permit/passport/etc.? The letter says that they'll return originals.

- For OHIP for our dependents, what should we do? The PER letter only includes my name and UCI (main applicant), and the lady said you need the same e-mail with your spouse's UCI number too.

That's good then. You sending these statements again, which obviously will be consistent with what you provided in the initial application, would only strengthen your case. I don't think it would be a problem, and I don't see any potential excuses that they can throw at you (provided of course, you do indeed have all the amount for over 6 months and can easily show that), though some of these people may be so twisted that they can come up with anything. Have it sent tonight, and get your application processed further. Let these people in Ottawa know that not everybody is trying to misrepresent themselves.

rgb, you're right, I did not see the post that you had. Thanks a lot for your reply. The wording that you have and the wording I have are slightly different. It does look like that I would have to redo the whole thing all over again, since my police certificate request goes like:

Police Certificate: From each country/state where the residence period has been six months or longer since the age of 18, provide an original police clearance certificate from Indonesian authorities. This must be received at this office by: 05/27/2013

I initially thought that the bolded part really is just a modifier for the second part, that I only need to provide PCC for places in Indonesia that I have lived for more than 6 months since the age of 18 (of which there is none). But apparently, it looks like they're asking for ALL places that I have lived for more than 6 months since the age of 18 and the Indonesian PCC. This is interesting. Thankfully I was so paranoid that I ordered these PCCs the day I got the document request Sometimes, the best way to deal with paranoia is to let it consume you and dictate your course of action...

I'm wondering about that, did you not include your spouse in your application? If I'm not mistaken, several of my friends who already got their PER also had their spouses' names on the PER letter (some of them have wives that also are studying, so their tuitions too are reduced).

I have also similar situation. PER letter does not contain my wife name. Thus I have sent a request to CIO, Sydney through email to include my wife name in PER letter . Let's see what I'll get in reply.

I think it is possible as long as you go to one of the panel doctors, however, I do not expect you to get any request for the medical test this soon. They have not even processed the late Feb and March applicants. The reason you were asked for some documents that soon is probably because they are doing something to speed up the processing time in general. We see these days that people right after receiving the PER e-mail are asked for the 6 month turn over!

Oh yes I sure did, they deducted $1100 from my credit card. But his name is not on the PER letter.

Finally got my CAIPS back today. As I expected, nothing was started yet...And I did not see the "bring forward day" as some previous posts mentioned...Could it be that they changed the format of the CAIPS notes?

BTW, I was in a fast-track PhD program, so I do not have a Master degree. Initially I thought I could only have 20 points in education. Surprisingly, they gave me 25 points with a note like "20 years of education, equivalent Master's Degree".

Another note I provided reference letter from my supervisor in terms of the work experience. By the time I applied, I claim 3.5 years of RA. Although my supervisor said in the letter that I worked 37.5h/week, eventually they only gave me 1 year equivalent full-time work experience. I guess it makes sense, but just bring it up for others that we're not entitled the full-time 37.5h/week as a student.

Finally, I didn't get that 5 adaptability points for 2-year previous study in Canada either. The 5 adaptability points was from my partner's Master degree in Canada.
