Hi all

I'm new to the forum. I am planning to apply for PR under the PhD Stream in the new few months. I know that the regulations will change in January 2013 and the FSWP will be open to other professionals shortly after that. Would you suggest I apply before the end of the year (Between Nov & Dec) or in January 2013?

Thanks for your help!

Any advice?

Hi salam20, I don't think anybody has ever sent the 6-month bank-statement before the CIC requested them to do so. Also, when (and if) you do need to provide it, most likely it will be Ottawa whom you should send it to, not Sydney. However, regarding whether or not one needs to send the activities for the past 6 months would apparently depend on a lot of things. Several of the applicants here actually got their medicals without getting requested for an additional bank account activities, so maybe it would be a better idea to just wait for further instructions. Or you can try contacting their call center if you have the patience :) Good luck.

The thing is, there is no guarantee that there will still be the PhD stream next year, so in my opinion, it's probably safer to send your application the soonest you become eligible. If there is no further instruction, the cap for PhD stream will be reset at Nov 1, so if that is really the case, and you are eligible (with more than 2 years of PhD, enough number of points, and at least a continuous 1 year work experience within the last 10 years in eligible NOCs), then IMO you should apply by then.

There is, however, also an incentive to wait. Under the new regulations, most eligible PhD students would be able to get more points (since they would put more emphasis in language skills, and age if you're under 35), but we would never know if they will still keep the stream next year (actually, we don't even know if they would still keep the stream at all by Nov 1).

Is there any news for the recent applicants? It has been one and half months since my documents delivered to Sydney. The application fee still hasn't been charged? Any ideas on this? Are there any ways to inquire about this?

Thanks

I don't think anyone has been charged after august. they are giving priority to the MI-1 applicants.

Do you want to be added to the spreadsheet? If yes, please post the remaining information.

here you go TyrusX: one applicant, RA and sessional lecturer experience included, IELTS result sent with application, university letter had the institution's seal (it was not in a sealed envelope). Original application reached Sydney in early July, but was returned due to incorrect visa office. New application reached Sydney Aug23rd, with Ottawa as the chosen visa office. No CC charge yet.

Hi Guys,

So happy to have found this thread. Can anyone please add me to the database. I applied on Feb 19, application accepted on Mar 24, 2012. Still waiting to hear from them for further documentation.

I just have a question regarding PCC. I received all the police clearances from various countries that I have stayed at during the 1st week of March. So, I couldn't send those with my initial application. I was wondering if they will still be valid when I actually receive a request for PCC from Ottawa ( looking at their current processing speed, it could be even 6 months from now :-\) ?

Why don't you send them over now?

For me I actually had my application on all documents ready by Feb but unfortunately my police clearances weren't ready yet. I waited (which was a bad decision on my part) By the time I got my clearance, I realized that I was also screwed bcos the clearance doc said - this document is valid for 6 mths from date of issue. But I knew, the PR process would take far longer than that. So I submitted it anyways regardless. Cross my fingers and hope they don't request for me to get a new one.

My only concern is whether it is a good idea to send documents without being asked for?

I believe you should try. However, people should always strive to send the police clearance with their applications.

Just one last question, how long are there PCCs valid for? On my PCC it does not mention any expiry date. Mine are over six months but under 1 year. And should I send these to Ottawa? If anyone can provide the address, I will really appreciate that, just a way of confirming that I have the right address.

hey all, I have a quick question for those who tried to get the international tuition exemption with the PER letter: there are two people on my application (myself and my partner) but the PER letter only ever mentions myself, now, how can she prove that she is on this application and get the tuition fee exemption?

Hi Mukam, I think in general, police certificates are valid for one year (it's in the document checklist IMM 5612 if I'm not mistaken). Nobody here really knows what would happen if anyone tries to send the PCC to Ottawa after initially not including it without being requested, but you can try.

Hi AF___, I think if you can prove that she's your wife, and that she's included in your application, it should be good enough.

Hi, AF,

I just did that for my wife. Try to google ' Ontario operating funds distribution manual', and you will get a pdf file from university of Guelph. This document is from the ministry of training, college and university, regulating how universities distribute provincial funds. Check out the section 4.1. I know different schools have different rules about the exemption. But remember that no school in Ontario could deviate from this manual. Good luck.

Has anyone noticed we can no longer view the number of applications accepted for our category on the CIC site?

I have resent my application again on 24th of Oct. Now 3 included in the application. every other info remains.
