Thanks Viva2014. I have decided that I will keep the cheque. This cheque ain't worth the hard time Canada Post gave me with my PCC. Thus, they have lost $300 due to a bad service. 8)

I think your move is justified. Any reasonable company would ensure that they compensate the customer for their bad service anyway.

I have a new question: is there any benefit to include my scholarships in the employment letter since they are not taxable?

There's no downside in including them so please do.

Hi all,

I have an inquiry. If you have a valid postdoc offer and you are already working, is it enough for a proof of fund to show when landing?

Thanks

Hi pyzdfr,

Did you submit your PhD transcript to show that you have "at least 15 hours of instruction per week"? Or you just provide your letter of attestation?

Thanks

Thanks.
Yes, they gave me 5 points for PhD study and I'm still studying.

Hi Viva2014

If we look at the official statistic (Google "Applications we will accept – Federal skilled workers") there are "227 of 500 (as of November 19, 2014)." So there should be no worry about the cap?

My situation is even more pessimistic. I still have to wait for my national ID (original document) to be delivered to me and then to get a certified copy. I can only submit my application on around Dec 8 or 9. Are Two business days the fastest one can ever expect?

Thanks

Sorry to hear that. You still have good chance to be in the cap. Send your completed application tomorrow or today with the fastest delivery system. You can use courier or use the PO Box but if you use PO Box you can ask Canada Post to use the Overnight system (It costs you around $40 to $50 but it will be delivered in two business days).

Good luck and don't worry.

As the document checklist says, no transcript is required if you are submitting attestation letter. So, I only submitted letter of attestation.

Thank you very much, pyzdfr

I heard examples that some PhD students failed to receive 5 points for study, as full time studies are officially defined as "at least 15 hours of classes per week".

Can you please kindly let me know
1) if you have any other study experience in Canada in addition to your PhD study. If yes, then it might be these other study experiences instead of the PhD study that give you the 5 points.

2) whether your letter of attestation is sealed in the envelop (that is, you did not OPEN it) when you mail it to CIC. It sounds silly, but I think sealed in the envelop somehow makes the letter more convincing :)
3) If you opened and read the letter, would you mind telling me whether it is explicitly stated on the letter that "the student has finished at least two academic years of full-time study" or something similar to that. As far as I guess, since no PhD transcript is provided, the officer officer cannot judge whether "at least 15 hours of classes per week" is satisfied.

Please feel free to message me if you don't want to post.

Thanks very much for your valuable help.

Best

With the new IMM0008ENU_2D (Generic Form updated in November 2014) now there's no need to choose a visa office anywhere in the application, is that correct ? Thanks !

Yes

Dear all,

I have a question that is probably silly to some of you but I was probably paranoid about the application process.

My document checklist for FSW states the following:

"Letters must include all of the following information:
• your total annual salary plus benefits in each position"

Therefore my question is:
In terms of salary, if my research assistant work letters stated hourly salary (instead of annual salary) as well as the number of hours working per week, is it a reason to return my application because I did not follow the instruction of stating "annual salary"?

Thank you

Did you include the number of hrs you worked per week? If you did, then no worries, they know some universities pay per hour rather than per annum.

You must have also included the period of work, either per semester or per year. If you just included for example 35 hrs per week from 2012 to date, it may be an issue!

I do not understand: so if I say that I work from May 1, 2011 to Aug 31, 2011, and I worked 5 hours per week, will there be a issue? The document checklist clearly states to include the number of work hours per week, I believe?

It is also OK and even if you call them probably they will say keep the check.
