Re: Urgent Question

If you apply for a PR application then it will be tough to get a study permit unless you are super brilliant (means very good school and funding). Because TRV requires that you must come back, but PR application means you will not come back.

Updates!

RPRF: July 7th
Medical request: July 8th

Does this mean that I will get accepted - or they can still reject me?
Hi ptrs141,

Congrats for your MR :) Can you also provide the missing information from the spreadsheet (in this case, nationality, number of applicants, and the kind of work experience you included with the application)? It would be helpful for others :)

Also, if you read your RPRF, it probably said that they have found you to be eligible for the stream that you are applying in. Eligibility, in our case, would mean that the visa office has awarded you more than 67 points, and you cannot be rejected based on this reason anymore. You may, however, be rejected based on admissibility (health, security or criminality). Just don't do anything foolish, and you should be fine :)

Have you seen the number of application received in the PhD stream?!

Only 19 in two and a half month! :)

Why is that?!

Hello Everyone,

This is a great forum and very helpful. I am a PhD student in Quebec (McGill University) and I want to apply to the PhD category. I have managed to get an employment offer as a post doc in a university outside Quebec as soon as I finish my Phd (after 1 year), to prove that I want to reside outside of Quebec. My employment letter specifies everything, lead statement with NOC code, duties, Salary, benefits, start date (is specified as soon as I submit my PhD thesis) and it is for two years and can be renewed.

My Questions: 1) When I fill my forms in the section about Arranged employment should I say "Yes"? and would this confuse the immigration officer and make him think that I am applying through the arranged employment category not through the PhD stream.

2) Is it ok if I add a cover letter with my application? some advice to add a cover a letter, while others say your checklist is your cover letter.

Thanks for your help in advance

Hi everyone,

I received the rprf and medical request on July 14, 2014! You can update the tracker. Here is the full list of what they asked for, thanks!

· Updated evidence of settlement funds (showing 6 months deposits/ withdrawals history) for yourself with a minimum of 11 824$ CAD.

· Medical examination for --- (Medical Instructions will be sent separately via email within the next 48 hours)
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/medical/medexams-perm.asp

· Payment of Right of Permanent Residence Fee (RPRF) for yourself. You must pay this fee before a permanent resident visa can be issued. The RPRF will be refunded if the application is refused, if you withdraw your application or if you choose not to use your visa.

Hi everyone,

I need your urgent help. I am a PhD student in Quebec and planning to apply for CSQ as soon as possible. I have seen the CAP of 6500 applicants for CSQ.
One exception is "temporary residents" so am I exempted from considering the maximum CAP?
Can some one please help me with this or refer me to the right forum ( I couldn't find the link to phd Quebec)?

Hi,

I need help. Can anyone clarify if we get 5 adaptability point for 2 years in Canada? My friend applied 2 years ago, and he didn't get any. Something may have changed though. And this is why I am asking.

1) post doc is not a permanent job. So you should answer "No".
2) You do not need a cover letter.

Hello cdhbamboo,

I am new here. Since you have applied after may 2013 , you can help me a lot by answering my two questions. I have a big concern about them.

1. Did both Sydney and Ottawa (especially Ottawa) give the 5 points of adaptability for only 2 years of Phd study (not finishing the program)? You do not need to have your GCMS. If you think that without having those 5 points your application would be rejected by Sydney or Ottawa, then they have awarded it to you.

2. Did you claim RA full time for all two years study or it was less than 30 hours?what about TA? Thank you.
Hello, I have the same questions. Would you please answer the questions? :D

Admins, could you please update these guys in the tracker:
cdhbamboo* (rprf request), Firewall (medical and rcmp request), and saeedp62 (docs request)

Do you need any help with keeping the tracker up-to-date? It might be a good idea to give writing rights to one more person (probably the one who is still “in-process”)

Just an update regarding my status. I have received the Medical and RCMP request today :)
Please update the "immigration tracker-PhD Stream", if you're authorized to do so.
Thanks
Congratulations! Have you received the rprf request as well?

Hi karanoha,

Can you also add your nationality, for completeness sake?

Also, this goes for everyone who wants to be included in the spreadsheet, please provide as much information as possible, as it would be helpful for others :)
