What is the difference between aor1 and aor2?

Also, is it common for the PA to get the aor email? Because I got it today. I always thought the sponsor got it.

I (the sponsor) got mine 6 days before my wife. Mine didnt have info for linking online, my wifes did have that information.

AOR1 is the email that lets you know the application package has been received at Mississauga. It is sent to the sponsor and contains the application number and the sponsor's UCI, so they can sign into e-CAS and watch for decision made on the sponsor application. The AOR2 is supposed to be sent to the applicant following sponsor approval. It informs them of the file transfer and which visa office their application went to.

In our case, the AOR2 was actually sent to me. My husband, who is the applicant, has never been contacted by the CIC at all, everything has come to my email address. We also got the request for additional documents and the Right of Permanent Residence fee in the AOR2 email.

Once upon a time, there was only one AOR: Acknowledgement of Receipt for the entire application package.

I still have no idea what, if anything this `unicorn' called AOR2 really is. ;)

Do both the applicant and sponsor get aor? Is the sponsor supposed to get a separate aor?

youre asking the same question in many different threads... as stated in prior responses, the linking of the account doesnt matter whos name its in. i am the sponsor and i linked it for my husband... all is fine... as for the AOR we did get two... my husband got one and i got one... a few days apart.... there is NOTHING wrong with what you have done with linking and its ok that he isnt your rep

You and me both. And I have gotten all the correspondence they have sent (verified by GCMS notes).

So it is normal for the PA to get aor and not the sponsor right away?

I got a aor with my uci as well. Then SA a few days later.
Then another aor both my husband and I got it.
Thst was Dec 2016 and Jan as well to say files were in Mexico VO.

Oddly though, we both got a third AOR April 4th! To say our file was being processed since March 7th.
My husband address was wrong so i emailed them to advise, they responded to say it was corrected, and to not forget they requested the RPRF on April 4! I was surprised as their message on April 4th on cic says its an AOR and never in it, it states to pay RPRF! The wrong address saved us from a major mishap!

Thank you for the response starnaenae!! My sponsors actually just got her aor! :)

Is it normal for the sponsor and applicant to have two different UCI numbers? Does this mean my sponsor can create her own account?

youre welcome!! yes, both will have an individual UCI... only one applicant can link the account -- the UCI can be used to view ECAS though!!!
