Have same question about this, do they work at weekends?

Yes, they do work on the weekends. Target bigger border crossing, like COUTTS. They work 24/7. But their Immigration office 08:00 to 23:00.

Do I have to have US visa when I go to the US border?

No you don't have to have USA Visa. If you do not have USA Visa then USA border officer will escort you around the corner back to the Canada border. They regularly have people who come from canada just to change status.

They have green light for doing whatever they want. Sometimes they create pain also for Canadians. Because technically, if you can not enter USA, they can stamp your passport and send back to Canada. Then, technically something can go wrong and Canadian border officer not letting you in Canada. Then you are stuck between the borders

This interpretation is slightly wrong though the overall picture is true.

Even with a US visa, if you primary intension is just to flag pole to get PR, they would STILL GIVE you refusal to enter US (that is all required for PR) to do your PR process.

It is not important to enter US for completing PR. It is just important to go out of Canada to do this. Even refusal of entry counts as being out of Canada. There is nothing else TSA (USA border services) can do to you.

I have first hand experience of above (crossing border merely for immigration paper work on Canadian side while having a US visa and past multiple travels), plus I know others with similar case, although with a visa, they at times would ask you if you have plans of coming to US shortly again and would issue I-95 valid for a while in such a case, so you could reenter without going through the same fuss.

Or did you check randomly?
I ask because I'd then consider giving up this maniacal habit of logging in and out of myCIC every hour if I can be sure of receiving an email about the update

No I haven't received any Ghost/Angel mail yet.. I check myCIC portal at morning every 2nd day.. I just happened to check today morning and was pleasantly surprised to have some activity on my application.

I would suggest you to check mycic once in 2 days... Also I'm seeing some activity around the 2nd week of October AOR's for FSW outland category... so hang in there... there will be an update soon...

Hi everyone! I have been a quiet but anxious observer of this thread. We are a family of 4 and our AOR (FSW outland) was on the 26th of October. Since medicals were passed on the 29th everything went quiet
I got my notes last week but they dont show that much...
