I really doubt that should be an issue. Could you please cite the source where it is mentioned that if your passport is valid for less than 12 months could be an issue.

The only problem one could have because of validity of passport is that if their passport is no longer valid or has very short validity left at the time of receiving CoPR/visa. In that case it will be terribly difficult to do landing at a very short notice. I cannot see that happening in your/wife's case. Relax :)
Thanks for your input! I was checking with RKCK because s/he mentioned that you need to have a passport with >12-month validity earlier:

Email. Passport requires to be valid for 12 months though.
It sounded reasonable enough, so I wanted to check if being close to the 12-month validity mark would be an issue.

From another source in the forum itself, this is an excerpt from the PPR mail received

" We require a valid passport for you and all accompanying family members. Passports must be submitted together. Each passport must be valid at least six months have at least two blank visa pages. If there are children included in your passport there must be two blank visa pages for them as well. Please note that a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (IMM 5688) and visa cannot be issued to holders of Diplomatic, Official or Military passports. You must obtain an ordinary passport."

There you go. You need to have a passport with validity of 6 months at the time of CoPR and must have two blank pages. But if you find out that there is something
amiss then please do let us know as well. :) Goodluck with your application.

You are overworking your brain. :) That's more than 12 months in the future. You will get the PPR in no time.

Haha, waiting 6-months can do that to your brain. I just crossed the 180-day mark. Thanks for the positivity :)

Last updated on July 26th, 2016 CIC website says the avg processing time to process 80% PNP, CEC and FSW under Economic class is 6 months. Hopefully they wont let us down :-[

Many people from Jan thread have crossed the six months mark already. And still nothing. I will be waiting for 6 months in a few days.
I guess nobody would argue that the average processing time has increased recently. Despite CIC sends half of previous ITA numbers these days.
I don't understand what they are doing out there

They have included 24th and 25th Draws from 2015 in Jan 2016 and issued a total of 4449 ITAs, which is approx double the number of ITAs compared to draws that happens in rest of the months may be the that's the reason its taking so much time.
