I see a spirit of togetherness in this forum, lets keep the flames. I got some good news.

A third line was added on my e-cas status on March 27th saying: we have started processing your application (In process)
Then on April 9th they send an e-mail requesting for my PP and RPRF. I have paid the money and they received my PP on the 25th of March. They added that the processing period for the issuance of the visa is 6-8weeks. What am unsure is whether they will respect this timeline.

Any body got a clue when they can send my PP back to me?

What I have come to understand is that the processing time for an application depends on several factors including:

- Each individual application (verification of documents and security clearances)
- Medical reports ( medical conditions which will pose a harm to the residents of Canada
- Visa office (depending on workload)
- incomplete applications or poor photocopies or poor translations and wrong methods of paying fees
- Your NOC code (field of professional training), preference is given to occupations where they lack the labor
- the province your applying to or the immigration program your following ( prefered trade for QSW n provincial nominees seem to be
processed faster
- Country of origin (some countries lack poor filing and record keeping systems as a result verification of documents is extremely difficult.
Fraud, bribery and corruption even makes matters worst. Postal systems too can be sometimes very terrible. Things look even more frighthening if the country of origin has not got an embassy or a consulate that handle PR applications. In such a case u must use only a credit card or a financial partner institution to pay for your application.

I certainly may have forgotten some other points. Can anyone just hint me when they think I can get my PP back after it was received on the 25th of April?

Manoh, congrats. I think it will take about 8 weeks maximum, all things being equal. There are times when it has gone past 8 weeks, but depends on the circumstances. but like they said, give 6-8 weeks.

congrats . Where will u be settling?

Hello all, i wish to say congrats to Manoh who has recently experienced some progress on his file. I have some news on my file which i will like to share with you members.
I was scheduled for an interview on the 29/04/2013 which in my opinion was success based on the discussion i had with the lady who interviewed me.
The interviewer told me that i had been scheduled for an interview because she had not been able to reach my employer so she had to interview me.
After the interview she told me every thing was ok but she still had to talk with my employer in order to clarify certain doubts.
Two weeks ago my employer told me than he had received a phone call form the Canadian embassy in Dakar Senegal.
On the 16/05/2013 i received a mail from the Dakar visa office thus:

'' Dear ,,,,, ,,,,, :
This refers to your application for permanent residence in Canada.
In the course of reviewing your file, it appears that your file may have to be refused as you have not
provided the following documentation:
• The points attributed for the French language are insuffisant. You must present us a certificate of
French language test. Please consult the following website in order to follow the instructions:
general/conditions-requises/competences-linguistiques.html

If a change has occurred in your family composition (marriage/divorce, birth/death, adoption etc) since your
last communication, please inform us as soon as possible in order not to delay processing of your file.
According to the needed change, whether your dependents are accompanying or not, we will advise you as
to required fee payment or documents to submit.
You now have the opportunity to comply with the request. You must do so in writing to this office within
60 days from the date of this letter. If you do not respond, a decision regarding your application will be
taken on the basis of the information on your file.
This may result in the refusal of your application for permanent residence.''

I will like to have the opinion of forum members on the following questions:
- why should i be asked to take a FRENCH test when i already have a PER and beside i'm not applying to immigrate to Quebec.
- Is there any member of this forum who applied for the federal skilled program and was asked to take a French test and how did the person respond to this mail.

I await your opinions on this matter.

Hello Mbasu,
I did the TEF (test d'expression francaise) and well i fell within the point range they required. I am a FSW applicant and ones you put that you speak french and English, though you are not migrating to quebec, you have to do the french test. If you haven't taken it, go to the french language center next to supermarche casino, on avenue kennedy, and inquire about taking the test. I think the fee is still 120000frs. Reserve a date and take the test. The results are normally out within 2 or 3 weeks.
The test is written, oral, etc.
Let me know if u have any questions.

Thanks very much for this piece of info. To be frank, i was not prepared to take the TEF but from your explanation i now have a change of mind. I actually thought the VO probably made a mistake by asking me to take the test. So i was about to inform them that i don't claim any points under the french language even though i have some basic knowledge in french.
Once more thank.

I will like to know whether this test is taken on Saturdays,
Do u know if there are centers where the test can be taken out of Yaounde like in Doual, bafoussam etc

Mbasu,
i think there is a center in bafoussam, but it will be wise to check the information out at the french cultural center in yaounde first, just to make sure. I think i use to here the ad, about taking a french test in dschang, so i think it might be in dschang, otherwise, douala also might have it. But i will advice you to go to the french cultural center in yaounde or douala and find out more info. I did mine in yaounde. I don't know if saturdays are available. it depends on the day you choose, on the available dates.

Hi To everyone,
greetings from Calgary where i am at the moment.Well i have been busy for the past 2 months trying to settle down, like you all know settling down is not an easy process. It take time. Plus i have my daughter with me , so with children it is a little different.

I would like to advise those of you who are getting visa, not to waste a lot of time back home. The earlier you come the better since you also have challenges ahead here t face before it settles down. I made this mistake and i do not want you guys to make same mistake. Even though it all depends on your field of studies in getting a job. But i hope you all know that most of our degrees are not always valed here and you have to start like you are starting from a fresh. even some of us who have international experience it is still not worth anything here, then our accent and to name just a few.

I know all of us want to fall in the bush, please take me serious, IF YOU HAVE A GOOD JOB THAT PAYS YOU ABOUT 300 TO 500 THOUSANDS I WILL CHOOSE TO STAY HOME. AND MAYBE VISIT CANADA WHEN I LIKE . OR YOU CAN COME BECAUSE OF YOUR CHILDREN, THY WILL HAVE GOOD EDUCATION AND SOME KIND OF BENEFITS.

HERE IT IS NOT PARADISE AS PEOPLE THINK IT HAS ITS OWN PROBLEMS TOO. BUT FOR ME I HAD SOME OTHER REASONS FOR COMING HERE WHICH IS TOO ASSIST MY FAMILY COME HERE AND FOR MY CHILD TO GET GOOD EDUCATION. tHE SOLE AIM WAS NOT MAKING MONEY.

PLEASE IF YOU HAVE SOME QUESTIONS DO NOT HESITATE TO ASK ME.

I WISH THOSE IN THE LINE TO GET THEIR VISAS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

WELCOME TO CANADA FOR THOSE WHO GOT THEIR VISAS ALREADY.

CANADAFORALL.

Canadaforall,

You just exposed some hard truth. I think it is valuable. Please enlightened on the following.

1. My PP has been with the visa office for a month now. How soon can they issue to me the visa?

2. Will the proof of funds be demanded at the airport?

3. What are some of the things I can do back here (Cameroon) to ease the pressure of settling upon arrival?

Thanks in advance for your reactions.

30/05/2016 Montréal, and became PR
Hi Mbasu;
I live in Douala and took TEF exam in Yaounde on 23 June 2011. It is not conducted in Douala. The cost at that time was 200,000 FCFA and I think It has increase by now due to demand. I had to to wait for over 1 and half month to get the original attestation from France to arrive Cameroon; that Is why I missed the Federal Cap of NOC 1122. When I receiced my documents back I just had to apply for quebec. Got AOR in August 2012, and the waiting game continues patiently.

Some one just said earning 300 to 500 thousands is sufficient not to migrate. I think the answer depends on your profession. It is true we have to get Canadian qualification and experience. But with time say 2 to 3 years one can make it really big out there. I know couple of friends Chartered accountants ACCA who converted to CGA upon arrival and are earning around 65 to 90 thousands $ a year. Trust me I even acted as some of their referees which the companies contacted back home for more background checks. So guys be forward looking and do not give up.

Hi Manoh,
1, Mine took 1 month so expect it any moment from now.
2, Cases are different and immigration officers are also different. It depends where you are landing. My program was federal and i was asked to shwo the money at the airport.

3, Try to keep your references together and their e.mails and also get some money with you. It all depends on luck and where exactly you will be based. Some people are lucky and get a job right away so let me not discourage anyone. The plain truth is that you need Canadian experience and some level of certification here. they want you to pay some money for them.

Hope it helps.

2 - POF is required to be shown legally at airport. If u don't have, you will not allow to enter Canada

Its officer discretion whether he really want to see physical funds.

You cannot take a chance at this stage
