You can apply for their SP w/in Canada. Unless issue-han sila ng visitor record sa immigration. Our case kasi, nakalimutan yata ng officer bigyan yung daughter ko ng visitor record. So technically on a trv, your kids are only allowed to stay here for 3 months.. after that kelangan sila mag-exit. Visitor record allows your kids to stay in canada as long as your visa or permits are valid. So and ending is inapply nalang namin ng study permit dito we got it in 2wks.
Thank you Frustratedcanadian for this valuable information!! Super thanks!!! Sabay sabay ba kyong nagapply ng visa?

Hi worrygal!

First time I heard of such a case but like what was said, as long as all other neccesary documents were supplied, wala na naman siguro case yun... and the car documents nung nakabangga is not even under your name so I'm thinking there might be no bearing into it :)

HEllo fraustrated canadian! Our son was 2 years old when we arrived here... He landed with my wife and parang wla yata ako nakita na visitor record... is that something attached to his visa?

EDIT: So I just checked their passport stamps and it says May 2017 pa naman... my concern now is, I finish by May 1 2017 and there is no way that I will get the transcript soon enough to apply for the PGWP and be able to extend their stay...

I'll look into this and will let you guys know how it works out...

Can anyone please enlighten me about PGWP eligible schools? If public institution ba sure ang PGWP and pag private institution less chances ang PGWP? I will be lodging my application sa Sprott Shaw. I asked their immigration representative about PGWP eligibility sabi nya hindi daw institution ang nagdedetermine ng eligibility ang IRCC daw. Gusto kong makasigurado sana na after graduation eh malaki ang chance ko to get PGWP.

Hello, everyone! I'm still trying to finish reading all the pages (I'm currently at page 330) but I'm de-lurking to make a comment kasi this private versus public for PGWP eligibility is also my main dilemma (well second dilemma after tuition fee :p)

My original plan was to take the 2 year diploma course sa MTI Community College in Burnaby. But based on the research I've done from this immensely helpful thread (as well as other threads on the forum and blog posts about the issue)the recurring feedback I get is that there is a risk when you study in a private school because you will not automatically be eligible for PGWP. Mic-mic stated some important details;
-previously enrolled in a DLI (designated learning institution) full time
-applied for the PGWP within 90 days (not sure) of obtaining a copy of your official transcripts

However, some people are saying that being listed as a DLI is not a guarantee of PGWP eligibility. DLI status just means you are eligible as an institution to accept international students that are granted SPs. On the CIC website, it says PGWP requirements are:
- a public post-secondary institution, such as a college, trade/technical school, university or CEGEP (in Quebec), or
- a private post-secondary institution that operates under the same rules and regulations as public institutions, or
- a private secondary or post-secondary institution (in Quebec) offering qualifying programs of 900 hours or longer leading to a diplôme d’études professionnelles (DEP) or an attestation de spécialisation professionnelle (ASP), or
- a Canadian private institution authorized by provincial statute to confer degrees but only if you are enrolled in one of the programs of study leading to a degree as authorized by the province and not in all programs of study offered by the private institution.

The first one, it's hard to determine which private institutions "operate under same rules and public regulations as public". So even if say, Sprott Shaw says they follow, it's not for them to decide. There are some, like Langara College, that offer University Transfer Credits for some programs since they lead to degrees. Those are probably the courses that can make you eligible for PGWP. So in summary (sorry, medyo mahaba), the recurring advice I keep getting from other people's experience is that you have to try as much as possible to enroll in a public college or university to eliminate the risk of PGWP ineligibility. This is why I am looking at Capilano University in North Vancouver but the 2 year diploma course means I have to double my estimated expenses. So until I raise the funds, research and plano mode muna ako.

I could be wrong, this is just what I've read so far. If any of you have a different experience from a private school and got your PGWP, I would really like to hear any advice from you. Thank you :)

Hello.

I'm looking for some advice with regards to applying for a Student Visa in Alberta Canada. Previously my wife was the main applicant when we consulted with CIC agency. Unfortunately, we failed to pass some marks and we left it at that for a year or 2. Now, what we have in mind is that I would directly apply for a Student Visa and take a 2 year medical course in Bow Valley College. We're looking to do a direct application on the school since doing it with an agency is costly. I have already messaged the school and they said that it would be best that we just do the online application. The only thing left for us to do for now is to apply online and pass the requirements needed. I'm now waiting for my Academic IELTS result which comes this December 2nd.

A bit of background about myself since I'm the one applying for the Student Visa.

- My name's John ;)
- 27 years old
- High School Graduate :(
- Wasn't able to graduate BS-Nursing in CDU but was able to take it up to 4th year. (This is quite complicated since I had finished most of my subjects but the only thing left missing for me to graduate was to finish all my cases/duties) :-[
- Don't really have any experience or work with regards to the medical field
- I mainly worked as a musician and in a call center ever since
- Right now we currently have an internet cafe (Piso net) that we're running

I currently have my wife's parents and a close friend of mine who would help me with the show money needed for this. I was told that it would be best if it was a close family member who would help me with the show money. Is this true? Since I've already asked my side of the family for help and unfortunately they didn't have the money for it or were not willing to help me. Also, what would be needed for me to bring my wife and my kid who's still less than a year old?

Lastly, I have heard from friends over in Canada that it's better that I do not finish my nursing here in the Philippines since it's more complicated when you get there. Is this true? If I would prefer I'd like to finish it up in Canada since it would take longer for me to do an application.

Hopefully you guys understood my situation and can come up with any advice, answers and suggestions. Thanks.

Hi. I can share you my experience in applying visa with my Ninang (not blood related) as my sponsor. I still followed and submitted the same required documents asked by CIC:

-AFFIDAVIT OF SUPPORT
-Birth Certificate
-ITR (2 OR 3 YRS)
-Bank Documents (Bank Certificate and Bank Statement)
-Assets
-Business Documents (Mayor's Permit, Certificate of Registration, DTI)

BUT IF NO BUSINESS:
-CERTIFICATE OF EMPLOYMENT (if employed)
-PAYSLIPS (if employed)

Additional Documents:
-My baptismal certificate
-Letter of Explanation why she will sponsor me and also include the relationship of my Ninang and my Mother.
-Also include photos of my baptism and my Mother and Ninangs friendship way back in their college days just to prove they are long time friends (just to make sure)

You can add any documents that you think important in your application. Sabi nga nila mabuti na yung sobra kesa kulang but make sure it is important and helpful sa application mo :) Hope this will help you..

Yes, every term po ako nagbayad ng tuition. And yes, 3-year course po yun kung ganun ang structure, but why study for 3 years if you can get a 3yr work permit by studying a 2yr program? Well, if you can afford ung 3 years, okay lng naman hehe :D
Hi tyn, salamat sa reply. yng available year ng course is 1yr, 1.5yrs and 3 yrs. to be safe yng 3 years ung kinuha namin. baka kasi kapag kumuha kami ng 1.5 yrs eh d magrant ung 3 yrs na PGWP.

Hello nearlyLucid, I chose public because it is somehow tied to the government and a private institution has the risk factor of losing their DLI credentials. I read somewhere when I was still picking a school that one private school's owner got into trouble and lost his DLI credentials which affected his international students :( Can't remember where I read it though :(

Hi jygot, might be best to finish your degree so you can apply for a post grad degree here. Not sure if they can let you take a post grad considering that you already finished all the academic requirements. Although, being a nurse back home doesn't mean you are a nurse here and maybe this is the line of thought where you are coming from?

That's a weird answer from their representative, he should know if your program is PGWP eligible. Check Sprott Shaw sa DLI list sa CIC website
Bro, I sent you an email. Please check it. thanks. :)

Hi! I was going through several threads here and I noticed a lot of people are getting denied for their student permit. Any pinoy folks here who applied and got rejected? If its not too much, can i ask what was the reason why you were denied and if you are intending to reapply? Im starting my application this year and I just want to make sure I do everything right. Ang hirap masawi. :(

Also for those folks who is going bonkers in the process of applying but doesnt want to pay for a representative. I've found this agency, Fortrust. They have free consultation and free processing. They just ask for a 3k php commitment bond that you will go through the process with them and not back out. The 3k will be refunded regardless of what is the outcome. I think they get paid by schools for referring students. Because they have several accreited schools. And when I asksd what if I wanted to apply for a school that they are not accredited with, they said thats the time they will ask for a payment. Just a heads up. You can look them up in facebook.

Hello lourve,

Thanks for the prompt reply. I would like to know as to how did you create the pictures you sent for proof. Did you scan it and added details to each picture such as dates or events? Did you send it in an album style?

Also, I read that I'd need a study plan if I were to go further with this. Do you have any idea as to how to make this or a sample perhaps?

Thanks in advance again. <3

Yup, scanned and put a date, names and event. It was just a 4 pages, around 8-11 photos. Just the important one. In my case, I include my Mother and Ninang's photo in their college days (2), after college (2), my baptismal ceremony (2), recent ones with me.

Study Plan/Statement of Purpose is important in every application. Give me your email address
