Hello :D. First an introduction: My name is Gattaca (forum handle,) 35 years old and my family runs a medium sized family business here in manila. Even though the enterprise is successful (i.e. making money) my heart is not into it and i'd rather work in the technical field. My dream is to be an airplane maintenance technician and move to canada for good. I am married (but the marriage is all but annulled) have one kid.

From my one day worth of research, the school that looks to have the program i'm aiming for is BCIT (in BC, 16 months) or algonquin (in ontario, 24 months program.)

Well of course, first i should get an LOA (from both schools or just one?) and then submit my papers to VFS. I'm concerned about #6 in the quoted message above. My plan is to get my student permit so i can eventually be a permanent resident

Hindi po ba may PGWPP? (post graduate work permit program) which helps graduates qualify for permanent residence? it's a 2 year max sa pagkaka alam ko. Express entry na to for immigration. I don't want to lie on the paper to be honest. Although my family is here i don't have strong ties apart from that (altho i might bring my son to canada when he comes of age.)

How did you guys wrote your SOP then? Much thanks and will wait for your reply. I'm backreading so much atm! =) And i'll chronicle my journey on this forum too like the rest of you did ^_^.
High chance of refusal po if you state that you plan on staying after you finished your studies in canada.

Thanks for the succinct answer. Nagbasa-basa pa ako and it was a noob question on my part. So, risky pa rin pala na pagkatapos mong mag-aral after two years, ma turn down ka sa pgwpp. And after that you might turned down on your permanent residency, yikes!

Any personal anecdotes po from the people here? Success stories of students (that assimilated and worked hard) and became eventually canadians?

^Kukuha ka palang ng LOA kagaya ko.

Nasa top 3 colleges ko din siya. BCIT, Algonquin, Centennial. So far, website palang ng Algonquin nakalkal ko.

Best of luck to all of us.

EDIT: look at this link: centennialcollege.ca/admissions/international-education/admissions/admission-requirements/

besides, we will need the EILTS/TOEFL/CAEL assesment for the visa proper.

Hello,

How was your first day feeling? Ako first higa ko sa kama kanina, I was thinking na "Bakit ko ba pinasok to?" Hehe.

It's a journey, parang di pa makita ang dulo pag nag-uumpisa pa lang.

At pag nandun na, to survive and be an excellent student. Hindi malamang pwede ang average lang, kase ang immigrants a dime a dozen, so dapat stand-out.

Sige share ka lang. I am reading this thread, and since wala akong contacts/kamag-anak dun medyo kayong kapwa student pinoy ang inspirasyon ko. (Damn, i actually should start being used to writing in english hehe.)

Hello everyone,
I'm planning to apply ng student visa pero dito kmi naka base sa Singapore. I'm also planning to bring my family along (wife + 3kids). I know its going to be challenge hehehe pero ayaw kasi namin maghiwahiwalay. Ang application for Fall 2017 Term is sa Nov 1 pa. Kaya waiting pa muna kmi. Hope you guys can share your experience if may alam kayo na nag apply ng student visa na kasama ang family.
Try mo i-backread a few pages in this thread (I know it's long) ... there are a few people who have applied with their spouses and kids, pero di pa ako nakaencounter na ganun kadaming kids :D Anyway, there are some financial requirements if you are bringing along family: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/study-how-documents.asp
Sabi dyan aside from tuition, dapat you should show CAD10,000 living expenses for one year for the main applicant, 4,000 for the 2nd family member and 3,000 for each child. Kung two years ang program mo, x2 pa yan.
Is your whole family in Singapore? It might be a challenge to prove ties to your home country especially if you have been in Singapore for many years, so you will have to work extra hard on that. Good luck!

Hi po! Can anyone help me kung bakit kaya hindi pa ako nakakatanggap ng SP from Canadian Embassy? I already paid my full semester (Sept 2016) at Centennial College. My agent (Fortrust) said that my visa application was lodged last July 14. Until now wala pa rin results tapos sabi sa fortrust, possible naman daw na pwedeng matransfer ung tuition fee na binayaran namin for Sept 2016 classes sa January 2017 classes. Gusto ko sanang ipafollow up kaso sabi ng fortrust, nasa processing time pa daw kaya di raw nila un pwedeng ifollow up. waaah. Please help me.

From what I see lately, the start of the countdown ng processing time is after maging "PASSED" yung status ng medical exam. What you can do is request ka sa school mo if you can be late for the intake, like 2 weeks, to wait for your SP. If not, move na lang your intake to winter 2017.

Yeah, agree, medyo late ka na nag apply for Sept 06 intake. Processing time ngayon is 9 weeks so if you count it pasok pa siya talaga sa processing time kaya di ka pa makakapag follow up sa kanila. Para naman mapanatag ang loob mo na di ka naloko, you can contact the school directly and ask mo sila about your status. Pa defer ka na lang din for next intake if contact mo ung school mo.
