Silent_heart, ako din walang properties. Liquid cash lang talaga pinadala ko to prove funding. Mas maganda talaga kung the properties are yours kasi iisipin ng embassy babalik ka ng Pilipinas to deal with these properties.
Entitled naman school ko sa post-graduate work permit kaya hindi naman lingid yun sa visa officers. Factor din kasi may funding ako sa university na papasukan ko.
When do you intend to apply? Good luck.

@ humdrumdum - Ive noticed that you just submitted your documents this July 30 (i'm one day earlier than yours, accdg to my consultant pinasa nila papers ko ng July 29) and embassy requested you for medical so quick.... If I would compare your time line to DocRz and msladybug you're really so lucky kasi ang bilis bilis ng pag issue ng visa mo. Yung sa akin walang reply until now. Im enrolled in September 2013, sure na hindi na ako makaabot :'( :'( Pede bang malaman what course are you taking in? San ka sa Canada? Do you have consultant?

@ silent_heart: it depends on who will be paying for your tuition and expenses in Canada. Kung yung parents nyo po, then you can include their properties as proof of financial capability. If you will be supporting yourself but your parents will partially fund your stay as well, then I think mas okay kung i-explain na lang po sa SOP/personal study plan and also attach proof of your parents' financial capability along with yours.

@ dreamer20: I'm taking a 2-year diploma course in BCIT, in Vancouver BC. Sinigurado ko na lang po na walang butas yung application files ko so as to avoid inconsistencies and delays (nakalimutan ko nga i-staple yung old passports ko, andun pa naman yung US Visa ko haha) All I can say is efficient na po ang bagong system sa VAC's, may dagdag service charge nga lang ng P800 but worth it since accommodating po talaga ang staff and they offer excellent service. I think darating na rin po ang sa inyo soon, kaya lang kung may deadline for deferral ang school ninyo, I advise that i-notify nyo na po ang admissions officer of your circumstance just to be sure.

For those na hindi pa po nag-aapply, I can post my own student permit check-list that I followed if you want :D

@humdrumdum - pa-post naman please
question sa proof of fund. may enough POF naman ako sa bank under my name pero nasa middle east po ako naka-base at plano ko sa SOP ilagay na after study babalik ako ng Pinas to start my own business. may time deposit ako sa Pinas pero hindi ganun kalaki for a business willing ako pahiramin ng mother in law ko ng pera pero hindi pala allowed magdeposit sa TD account ko kahit sino so hindi namin alam ngayon anong magandang gawin para malagay sa name ko ang perang hawak ng MIL ko. kung idedeposit naman niya money here sa account ko sa middle east lugi lang din dahil sa conversion i think. any suggestion po? ano po ba ang bank draft in convertible currency?pwede po paki-explain.salamat!

To those who haven't applied yet, here's the checklist I came up with. It's up to you to follow this but these were all accepted when I lodged my application. :D I wanted to be thorough so that mapabilis sana ang application ko, hope this helps!

Student Permit Checklist for Paper-based Applications at a VAC

1. Things on the Official Checklist (arranged in the ff. order)
-Valid Passport: if you have been issued US, EU, UK, Australia, or New Zealand visas, you can attach the passport/s containing these.
-Manager's Check for Visa fee: write your full name and birthday at the back
-2pcs. 35mmx45mm ID picture: write your full name and birthday at the back of each
-IMM5383E - Document Checklist
-Barcode page of IMM1294E - Study Permit Application (will not appear unless validated)
-The rest of IMM1294E
-IMM5645 - Family Information
-IMM5257B - TRV Application, Validated
-Other IMM forms if applicable (Common-law Union, Custodian, Authorized Representative)
-Original Letter of Acceptance/Letter for Study Permit from Canadian school (with authorized signature)
-CAQ, for schools in Quebec only
-Proof of Financial Support: if sponsored by a party other than yourself - original signed Letter of Financial Support; bank statements from the past 4 months (at least); bank certificate addressed to Embassy of Canada, Manila; official receipt of tuition payment; proof of accommodation (if renting an apartment - attach an unsigned Residential Tenancy Agreement, if on-campus housing - proof of payment/reservation for your room. If you will be living with a relative, no need for this); tuition fee schedule
-Personal Study Plan: formal letter format and make it as straight-forward as possible, the VO's have hundreds of applications to screen other than yours! Ideal length = mini-skirt: short enough to be "engaging", long enough to cover the essentials ;) As much as possible, keep it within a page.

2. Your Personal Records (originals, unless specified)
-Identification: Birth Certificate, NBI Clearance for Travel Abroad purpose
-Education: HS Diploma, HS Permanent Record, College Diploma, College TOR, IELTS/TOEFL Score Report
-Employment: Certificate of Employment, company profile and/or brochure, pay slips; if you have close ties with your employer (i.e., family business, self-employed), you can also attach photocopies of SEC and BIR Registration, Business Permit, Income Tax Returns

3. Correspondence with your School in Canada (does not need to be official)
-Acknowledgement/Receipt of Application
-Added to Waitlist, if applicable
-Offer of Acceptance
-Program Matrix / Course Curriculum

4. OPTIONAL: Personal Records of EACH Immediate Family Member (photocopies/scans would do)
-Passport
-Birth certificate
-Parents' marriage certificate
-Valid Canadian TRV, if applicable
-For those who are in Canada already: Permanent Resident Card if applicable, Valid Study and/or Work Permit, School and/or Company ID, Social Insurance Number (if employed)
*I did it anyway since I have a sister in Canada to clear things up*

Other Reminders:
*Always use Adobe Reader to view all CIC documents, you might not be able to edit/see all the details properly.
*No need to prepare a set of photocopies

@ wowry: Hmmm I'm not exactly sure of what to do in your case... All you have to do then is show proof of her financial capability, together with yours. Mas mainam po kung i-explain niyo po sa SOP. Just a suggestion :)

Kasi kung ttranfer niyo po ang Peso to a foreign currency account, I don't think there's any way to avoid the effect of conversion... Di rin ako sure sa bank draft but as far as I know, it's similar to an MC except that it's the bank's funds that will be paid on your behalf; meaning you'll be paying your Middle East account with Peso as well (unless you buy foreign currency, so icoconvert pa rin ang Peso dito), so I think parang ganun rin. Do correct me if I'm wrong, yun lang ang pagkaintindi ko hahaha

VFS Global na po ang bagong contractor :) They accept walk-in applications at their Pasong Tamo Office, you can also mail-in your application. From my experience, okay rin po ang walk-in at wala naman pong mahabang pila. More info on the process here: http://www.vfsglobal.ca/Canada/Philippines/application_process.html You can call their help-line or chat with an online representative for free.

sir amiel, try mo po lodge ulit application mo with your daughter. i do know they are supportive of going as a family unit, and tingin ko kaya lang kayo na-deny eh dahil nakahiwalay yung application ninyo sa principal/student applicant. dapat po kasi magkakasama. malay nyo po, makasama kayong 2 ng daughter nyo. indicate nyo nalang na may student visa na si misis. good luck sir! sana makasama kayo, dama ko po ang hirap kung magkakahiwalay kayong pamilya.

Hi amiel, cocoagirl is right. Canada is known to support family applications. Even sa FSW, alam ko mas mataas ang points (at least yung old system) pag married with dependents.

Our family's application was received on 16 August (student for me and daughter and open work permit for hubby) - I am hoping for the best, as with everyone here applying.

And congratulations to everyone who got approved. Enjoy Canada! :)
