Just my opinion; I might be wrong. Plan nyo ba magsettle na sa Canada and your just. Using the student visa as the stepping stone? Si husband student visa, ikaw open work permit. Advice ko lang ireview mo mabuti ang requirements, especially ang finances kasi a family of 4 should have at least $35-40k/year.

By the way, ang start ng Winter Term is January 2014. Tapos, you might have to apply na kasi usually 4-6 months before ng term and deadline for international students.
Actually doc sa expenses di ako masyado worried kasi I work online as a Web designer so I can still work from home wherever kami. Talagang worried lang kame sa proof of funds kasi wala sa 35-40k ang savings, though my father in law will be supporting us as well aside from my income.. Hay. I have all docs except the big amount that they require to have in the bank. In and out lang kasi talaga ang pera ko, since I only earn about 13k usd a year.

Nasa Canada din po ba in-laws mo? I would highly suggest na si husband muna umalis. Pwede kasing madeny ang visa ng husband due to lack of country ties or proof na babalik siya ng Pilipinas after nya mag-aral. Makikita kasi ng immigration na ginagamit lang as stepping stone to Canada ang student visa. Kung sinasabi mo na limited ang funds nyo at properties, at least kayo na pamilya nya would be his strongest country ties.

My in laws are based in the Philippines po. His grandparents and siblings are all here. And I am also leaving behind 2 of my children from previous partner. Concern po kasi namin madodouble ang expenses since magbabayad for his rent and utilities sa Canada plus pa yung samin dito. Hay. God's will be done. Or maybe September 2014 intake nalang so we have lots of time to prepare..

Congrats to the people who already got their visas. For those of us trying, or still in the process of submitting an application, may God be with us.

We are hoping to lodge our application this year, medyo konting push pa sa proof of funds as we don't have that big savings pa. My husband/common law partner will be applying for a student permit, we are thinking much better if kasama ako and our kids para hindi doble doble ang gastos. My in laws will be the one supporting his studies and expenses, and I will help din kasi I'm the sole breadwinner of the family for the past 4 years. We have signed on with a local consultancy firm, in hope they can point us in the right direction na din. Proof of funds/savings nalang talaga ang kulang sa amin since mostly in and out lang ang pera ko. I work from home online so I guess that shouldn't be an issue since kahit nasa CA eh makakapagprovide naman ako for the family..

hi cocoagirl

anong profile ng husband mo? saang university sya papasok at what course (undergrad or masteral). kung ako ang tatanungin, parang mas malaki ang chance na mauna muna ang husband mo dun. then after 6 months work sya and after a year try nya kayong kunin family. ganun kasi ginawa ng sister ko at kami din, though ako we tried na kasma ako at daughter ko ng wife ko. at the same time, make sure the SOP is really convincing ang strong, malaking points talaga sya for consideration of VO. goodluck

hi cocoagirl,

if you have at least 6 months sa bank nyo na pwedeng pangshow money ni hubby mo, then target for the January semester pero kung wala pa, advise ko sayo na sa september na lang din. kami since last year pa talaga kami nag iipon at para malaki ang nasa bank mo. tama si doc kasi malaki ang gagastusin mo pag nagpaconsult kayo, per person ang bayaran dyan. then marami sa mga nadedeny talaga is proof of ties dito sa Pilipinas so might as well si hubby na lang mauna. ikaw ba indi ka ba pwedeng ikaw ang mag-aral instead of your hubby?

hi sir amiel, nabasa ko nga din ang post mo at sayang na na-deny kayo. try nyo po reapply ulit baka mas mabait na VO na yung magprocess ng application ninyo ng daughter nyo. i am a breastfeeding mom too so i understand. mas masarap sana pag andun ang buong pamilya di ba?

both me and husband high school grad. self-taught web designer ako kaya i am working from home (cheaper no need for yaya, etc). si hubby naman dating call center agent but stopped nalang kasi nauubos lang pera sa pamasahe dahil sa valenzuela kami nakatira (para malapit sa parents nya), and office nasa ortigas/makati pa. college options po Seneca, NAIT or CWA (CWA nasa Vancouver City).

Hi Amiel. I think it would be better kung kasama ka. Life in Canada is not that easy. I worked in Toronto for ten months. And believe me, wala ka ng time sa lahat. Mahal ang baby sitter dun and day care. And kung makikita ng VO (visa officer) na si wifey lang punta and baby, I doubt an mabibigyan sya ng visa. Kasi student si wife mo. So isipin nila sino mag aalaga sa baby mo.

Nag reply ako sayo dito sa thread before, I don't know kung nabasa mo. With the OWP, TRV is already included.

Hi Sis. Supposedly this year. Pumunta ako ng Canada 2011 hanggang 2012. Then umuwi ako. Balak namin sabay sabay na kami. Kailangan postpone kasi may mga inaayos pa kami. We wanted to make sure kasi na talagang walang sablay and lahat kami mabibigyan ng Visa. Nasabi kasi ng friend ko from Canada na the higher yung money sa bank, mas malaki yung chance na wlang ma deny. Better daw kung nasa $200,000 or more ang money. So un ung inaayos namin ngayon. Six kasi kami eh.

And ilang years ba yung gap since nag study si hubby mo? ang lam ko kasi at least nasa 5 to 8 years lang ata dapat ang gap. not sure. ung iba kasi 8 years na ung gap, na deny. Basta at least 5 years ung gap.

sis, walang college si hubs. he barely finished his first year, IT course nya. graduated HS 2001, college until 2002, then started working 2003. more than 10 years na syang wala sa school. balak nga ni father in law i-explain through letter na this is the only time na nakaluwag sila, since pinatapos muna si younger sister ni hubs, also the younger brother. bilang eldest, they want him to be given a good chance through education too. di naman kasi sana pwede forever kami nasa call center industry sis, and even as a web designer, hirap na din ako to keep providing for 4 people.. haaay. ang hirap nito. mukhang ang mga may pera lang talaga ang may way na makaraos sa buhay. kaming mga di nakatapos, mukhang hanggang dito nalang. nakakadepress.

okay pala sis course nya. I don't know kung may usapan sila or what. I think after 6 months ka nag aaral, or depends sa school or sa outline ng course mo kung kelan ka mag COOP. At least pag may COOP sis mabilis na. Habang may way sis, and habang andyan father in law mo to help you guys, grab the opportunity. Ung money na maiipon dito, ung di na kailangan mag work namin ni hubby for three years habang nag aaral. It's either mauna muna si hubby mag aral or sabay kami. Kaya makakaipon din si hubby mo while ikaw nag work.

Hi cocoagirl, I think in my opinion it would be best if he takes up a short-course before applying to a school in Canada. It is a requirement for colleges and universities that international students have at least 12 years of formal education, which is why nirerequire nila ang mga applicants from the Philippines to have at least 2 years of college education (since wala pang K-12 noon). Also, CEM will check if your educational background is relevant to the course you're applying.

If his purpose is to have a degree from Canada and work there afterwards, then I would suggest that he enroll in a polytechnic and not a college. It's midway to a university and a college in Canada, and most people easily find jobs after earning their diploma because of the hands-on knowledge they acquire. If you're looking into Vancouver, I would suggest BCIT and Kwantlen Polytechnic, although sabi daw mas madali pumasok sa Langara College and the tuition is cheaper. As for Alberta, instead of NAIT, SAIT is more reputable :)

I really do hope for the best for your family. Galing po sa similar situation ang parents ko so somehow I can relate po. You guys deserve a break :(

I agree with you.

Or you can email Seneca or yung mga school na napili nyo. Ako kasi I emailed Seneca. Sinabi ko na undergrad si hubby. Pero more than 72 units na sya. They replied and said to send the TOR of my hubby and his IELTS para daw ma assess nila.
