Any One in University of Alberta here???

Samsam is going for undergrad, so we cant compare ours with him.

No update from my angle too...I am always checking..Its still decision pending and my application is complete.They got all my required documents a week b4 yours...coz i tracked it and the next day...it reflected on the bear tracks that it was complete and decision pending....Hang on...it will soon be changed..

@hopeful.ad...I dont seem to understand....Enthu got admitted last month with funding as well for MSc(thesis-based) for sept entry.

So where did you get that info? I am not saying you are wrong ABT WHAT YOU HEARD...ITS JUST DAT AM CONFUSED???

enthu was saying that he got admission confirmation for Msc through bear track for Sep intake, I was saying that ppl for Msc admission got confirmation of admission but Meng ppl still w8g for response.

How did you get this idea of UofA ranking ?

As far as I could see from THES ranking and other different sources , U0fA is ranked at 100th in world and 5th in Canada, UofT, UBC, Mc Gill and UofW are considered better than UofA, please correct me if I am wrong ?

Please let me know if you have any other reliable source(s) which say that UofA is infact better than other universities in Canada because this is something constantly bothering me and making it difficult to finalize my decision ?

Well different rankings are different. Some rankings say its 47th some say its 99 some its even in 30s .

But anyways i am interested in its engineering which is 3d best in canada.
About waterloo it only has coop which i dnt want and BC has low job prospects hence alberta is only choice left esp if i have big scholarship from them.

Rank doesnt matter that much its collection of factors.

Its a fact that Alberta state has maximum jobs and its Edmonton and calagry cities have highest salaries. And jobs are abundant. Ontario and BC are saturated with few jobs. Also you get permanent residentisip in Alberta just after 6 months of work and also free medical insurance for immigrants.

So lets say even if UofA is ranked 9999 the fact is its graduates have higher probability of :
1) Getting Jobs
2) Higher Salaries
3) Easy Permanent Residentship
4) Free medical Insurance
5) Other benefits

Source : Many of my contacts living in Canada especially Toronto Alberta and British COlumbia
They all said the same goto Alberta state its best for earning money and getting easy PR

Sorry about my wrong use of words. I wanted to say that he had gotten " admission confirmation" on bear tracks.
what i was trying to say was: Do they wait till April to make a decision for admission?
Though I have submitted all my docs, I remember dat on my bear tracks the deadline for submission of docs is april 2.
Will they start making decision till april ???

I have emailed to university concern person, and they were saying that we will finalize list at the end of March....and i think they will inform us at the first week of april through bear track...and LOA will be in our hand arround may....but according to my knowledge getting from this forum..student can apply for visa by scan copy of LOA...
 
and as far as I know...dead line of application for M.eng was 1ST March.....
 
Hi,

Just to inform you all that today I have got hard copy of my admission letter along with financial letter from UofA.

As far as I can say they do not wait till any deadlines/end of any month, they do follow rolling admissions procedure. Applicants are assessed based on their cgpa/recos etc. once they receive all the required documents.

after how many days you recieved hard coppy LoA? and also tell me about the financial letter.. whats on it.. its the 1st year fees or 1st semester and all that ?
 
Hi massacre

I had received my confirmation for admission around 3 weeks ago and got hard copy of letter yesturday. They had received my documents sometime in January.

In financial letter they have mentioned about the amount I will be receiving during my RA and some conditions on it like the minimum level of performance etc.
