To my fellow filipino applicants,

Can you share your experience how did you get your NBI clearance from here in the US?

I have a 2005 local NBI with my family in the Philippines. Can they simply present that and be renewed for immigration purposes? or do i still need to go to the philippine embassy here in LA?

please advise. Thanks,

Applicants can apply to the nearest Philippine embassy or consulate. The application must include a full set of fingerprints taken and certified by the recognized police or law enforcement agency of the applicant’s place of residence, with two black-and-white photographs (2x2 in.). Alternatively, applicants may apply directly to the National Bureau of Investigation head office at:

National Bureau of Investigation
Identification and Record Division
Room 109, NBI Complex
Taft Avenue, Manila

please check below website. there's a detailed instruction on how to renew existing NBI clearance.

Hi,
You can send the old copy(NBI) with 'finger print' and you can ask from your family back home to renew your NBI clearance.
With the ff:
2 passport size picture (white background)
Authorization letter (with ur US Driver's license and other ID's attached)
Hope it helps.

I just got mine.
Send the followingdocuments to your family in the Phil;
Original Copy of your old NBI
Authorization Letter
2 Pics (2x2)
Photocopy of your passport & visa

Then they can go to SM Megamall for renewal. In just 5 minutes, they will issue u a new and valid NBI.

Mga kabayan,

I have my 2005 NBI Clearance and it's with my family back in the Philippines. so you were saying that you did not go or coordinated anything else with the Philippine embassy here in the US?

It seems that if I go to the PHilppine embassy, i would need to have a fingerprint or authenticate first the copy then send it back to the Philippines.

If all your saying is that I could coordinate directly to NBI Philippines through my representative without having to go to Philippine embassy here, then that saves a lot of time. Therefore, i just need to have my picture taken and send it to the Philippines.

About the photocopy of my passport, id or visa, can i just send the photocopy of my California ID? I don't have a student "visa" because i just change status here. What i have is a new I-94 and approval notice. please advise.

Please clarify. thanks a lot

you're right! You dont need to coordinate with the embassy here, a representative back home can do it for you. As long as you have all ur old NBI and other requirements needed.

About the ID's. I believed a copy of your PASSPORT and California ID are enough for proper identification. Go ahead!! you'll be fine.

send everything by email.
its faster if you have someone renew your nbi clearance from manila, but if you have a common sounding name like john or juan de la cruz and there's somebody with the same name who has a record with the nbi, they won't renew your clearance by representative.
they'll require you to have your fingerprints and picture taken personally.

you can check with the philippine consulate in the US..you can do the photo and fingerprints in a police station there then sent it to Philippines but it has to be in a form provided by our consulate..good luck bro!
