Hi there,
I'm a software engineer working canada. I'm planning to apply for my PR through CEC after couple of months. When I went through the document checklist, I could see that Birth Certificate is mandatory. Now the problem is the date of birth in my birth certificate is different from DOB in my 10th standard and passport. If I go to change my DOB in passport and all other legal documents, it would end up in a mess. :(

So is there any alternatives for birth certificate, which I can produce for the PR submission. My SSLC( Secondary School Leaving Certificate) doesn't have place of birth field itself, but have my DOB and my parents name. And my passport have place of birth.

I have heard that an affidavit would do the purpose, but didn't get any confirmation on that from anyone.

Please help.

Thanks
Sumesh

You can submit a school certificate which has date of birth mentioned. But only as a last resort.

Thanks.

But can I use combination of an affidavit and school certificate as an alternative of birth certificate? Please help.

yeah you can submit an affidavit. One of my friend submitted recently (oct2013 applicant) and he was successful. Also in recent posts CIC returned the application for lack of proper DOB proof and asked them to submit an affidavit which proves that they accept affidavit so try that way and am sure they will accept. That will be acceptable in lieu of birth certificate.

They accept 10th certificate as date of birth proof if it contains applicant name, dob and parents name.
I submitted the same, and it worked for me.
Plz mention in cover letter that you don’t have a birth certificate and you are sending following document in support of that.
