Why does cic request passport ? I already have my visa and I am in canada.

You should ask Behrooz66 how she proceeded with the passport. She had to send it to Turkey to get the visa stamp/COPR, even though she was already in Canada on a visitor visa.

Hello everyone,

I am from Afghanistan residing in Istanbul Turkey. My wife is a Quebecois Canadian citizen. And now we want to start spouse sponsorship. Since there is no embassy of Canada in my country, Afghans need to go Islamabad of Pakistan to follow their application. But we decided to do it through Turkey since the sponsorship process is about 11 months and Pakistan 36 months.

But now the questions that we want to know the answers are that,
My wife is Quebecois and how do we start sponsorship from the beginning?

How can we start all our sponsorship application through Istanbul if my wife is also here in Istanbul Turkey ? Do we need to send our application by post to CIC Mississauga since my wife is outside of Canada or is it possible by somehow online way ? if so, what documents and papers we need to send to CIC and after for CSQ if we are suppose to send ?

And any idea about the processing time from Istanbul for all the process would be appreciated!

I asked her couple of months ago..she told me that she used a representative who lives in Ankara. But she didn't have interview like me. In my case it doesn't make any sense not to be requested passport by ambassy after my interview.

Your wife will have to send the application to CIC-Mississauga and, when she is approved as your sponsor, they will transfer the file to Ankara.

I think that Ankara VO could not keep your passport as you needed it, since you were heading back to Canada. They have to complete your background check before PPR.

Nope, nothing from Ankara yet It's been quiet since August....
I've ordered GSMC notes, so hopefully I'll find out if background was started, I can't wait to get the notes but will only receive them in December. I'm praying that we will hear something this month!

And no, I don't know anything about Hasan.

We were able to link to myCIC back in August. It shows eligibility in process and medicals passed, but nothing else. It doesn't even show the request for the doc that they sent us by email nor does it acknowledge receipt of the doc. However, ecas does show that they sent us the doc request, but still no acknowledgement of receipt.

Strength2, who applied on May 31, received the same doc request as my wife 3 weeks before she did (with no acknowledgement either), and his background check changed to In Progress two weeks ago. I expect to hear from him when he gets PPR.

So, it would seem that there are at least 2 Ankara vo applicants whose background checks are in progress at the moment: Strength2 and Cyclist. I imagine that your friend's wife's will be tomorrow as well.

Hmm that requested form is not required though, I heard that only France asks for that form, weird.

Maybe, but because we haven't heard anything and didn't link to MyCIC we want to know what's going on with our application and which VO has it. It says Ankara on the Sponsorship Letter but we requested Poland, and we never received AOR2. You won't lose anything if you order the notes, you never know until you see them + VO sees that you want to know what's going on with your application.
