Hi everyone, I am new in this forum, apparently all are on the same boat. I put my case in brief, I filed sponsor my wife in Feb 2013, approved in mississuaga in March 2013 and sent to Ankara, and they received medical results one month later, I have been checking my status online almost every other day, last night I noticed that the system said "in process" for the status. I know everybody has the same concern but I am wondering if anybody knows what exactly "in process" means, I understand that the visa officer start processing the file, I would like to know what is the exact process from now and how long takes to finalize it and ask for passport.

Befa42,

honestly no one knows exactly how long will it take to ask for passport, some are in two months some are in 5 months.
so it all depends on what measures they take to assessing our file. But lets hope for the best.

I understand that Ankara is a busy visa office for all immigration applications of different kinds, any idea that roughly how many visa officers work on the files in Ankara? I read that they work only 3 hours per day, is it true? also does anybody know that the CIC strike affects Ankara VO as well, and if so when do they expect to go back to work.

no idea how many people are working and how many hours, all i know they are too lazy, like how long will it take to process some paper work, they make it sound like everyone is in dire need of coming to Canada and so desperate to get here. not considering some people who are waiting for their spouses are in this country which made the country a better place to live...

How do you know that they are too lazy? Did you see them when they work in the office? :)

Ankara is one of the fastest visa processing office overall. In CIC website their processing time average is 16 months however alot of people receive their visa way before.

Last year they were issuing spousal visas in 3-4 months, now there is a huge backlog because all Iranian files has been moved there and it's not Ankara's fault.

For other visa categories such as visitor, work and student visas they're still very fast. They issue a visitor visa in 24 hours and send the applican't passport by courier in the same day. I haven't seen any other visa office doing this service around the world.

Hi befa42!

The 3 hours per day that you saw and mentionning is only the open office hours and NOT working hours ;), well that's what I have read on other threads about Ankara VO!

You're quite right! I know quite a few of my husband's friends got their visas in 2 months!! I also know a person who this year got his PR in 3 months.

seeing you state this actually makes me wonder WHY ARE WE NOT ONE OF THOSE, like what is our difference? how is that they people have already gotten it while we wait in misery away from our loved ones? :(
