heyy you were exactly like me when i applied except i applied in nov of 2012 and i was 5 months pregnant.. my lawyer called me to iraq and told me there is no way you are giving birth in iraq and you should come to canada as soon as possible because i think theres a new law after 2009 that babies born outside canada to canadian mother and non canadian father have to be sponsored with their dad meaning if you give birth in iraq and want to go back to canada for a visit you cannot take ur baby with you!! so its best to go back give birth there and honestly its much better for you i know its hard but its better for u and the baby.. my lawyer literally called me 3 times to ty and convince me to go back to canada before my due date so i think he was really concerned

Oh, I didn't know about that law. I thought that any baby born to a parent who is a Canadian citizen is born Canadian. But I do know that if I were to give birth here in Iraq, it would take about a year for my child to get his certificate of citizenship, and I am worried that my husband's visa will be issued before my child gets his certificate, then we would have a problem. So I am most likely going to go to Canada to give birth there because it's easier for the child to get his passport.

THank you for that information and the advice. It seems you had a good lawyer.

I heard about this law, but I thought it was that if both parents (even if they are Canadian citizens) were born outside Canada, the child must be born in Canada to become Canadian. But, if at least one parent was born in Canada, it doesn't matter where the child is born.

That was me too! I was in Jordan with my husband! I got pregnant with high risk twins. We applied for a multiple visa for my husband and he got
It within 1 week! I went to Canada to give birth and sadly after 2 months I lost my twin baby and I had to have emergency c section to save my other twin. He was born June 10 2014. He got the citizenship and I'm a canadian citizen! I was born in Canada. My husband is still in Canada and we are not just waiting for his PR visa. They said another 1 or 2. We sent all documents they asked for... Urgh. I hate this waiting game. :(

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that about your baby.

Inshallah your husband gets his PR soon, but what is a multiple visa?

It's so frustrating to see that some countries are processing files in less than a year, while Iraqis and Jordanians have to wait so long. I wonder why that is?

Multiple visa .. He can enter Canada as many times as he wants for 3 years. He got the visa for only 3 years.

hey roro you should be able to get an email in few months to re do medicals and if they need anymore documents they will inform you. I heard from them after 1 year and 6 months but some people i know heard after 1 year and 2 momths so its really unpredictable when they will request. But after that it will be just waiting for the golden email. inshallah you will hear something soon!

Recieved this email from my MP yesterday :

I spoke to CIC today and they informed me that your file was updated on July 22 to confirm that they did receive all the documents that they had requested. So as of today they do have all the documents that you sent in.

The file is in que to be reviewed by an officer. After that point they will be processing security and criminality checks. I will contact CIC in one month again to see if there are any updates.

So all that time where were rhey? still havent done security and criminality! Anyone know how long these things take ?

I have similar time line as you. They requested 2nd medical in May 2014 and they have not responded to my email. I don't understand why it's taking so long. Other people who did 2nd medical got response in 40 days after.
