Amending work permit

Hello fellow members, are you allowed to work while amending work permit? There is a typo on the passport number in my wp. I only noticed while applying for a health card. The issue is that I'm already working and I'm not sure if amending it will affect my ability to continue working with my current employer. Thanks in advance
