I have started my study and part time job in September 2018. I worked till December 2019, also earned more than 5000$ in year 2019. But recently due to my 2nd part time study I have been not working since January 2020. ( I haven't quit my job and also received ROE letter from employer stating the reason "shortage of work"). Currently, I'm not sure will I be eligible for CERB or no ?

You need to have lost your job due to Covid. If you apply you might get the money but they might ask for it back at some later point. I think you might be elligable for EI (unemployment insurance) not sure how that works though.

You are not eligible for CERB. You did not lose your job as a result of CERB.

Assume @scylla meant you did not lose your job due to covid 19 so you don’t qualify. You weren’t making any income so you aren’t losing any income.

Only apply if you qualify. This isn’t free money. Generations of Canadians will be repaying for these payments. The less money now, less less cuts and taxes we have to pay later :)

I say apply if you need it now and pay it back later if it comes to that. There is also increasing pressure to scrap the criteria so you never know how it will go.

People should only apply if they are eligible. Read the fine print from the finance board . The Government will take steps to recoup any monies paid out to those not eligible
It’s not “free” money . Any support payments people are used to getting will be with held if individuals received the CERB and were not eligible
Any money paid out to those not eligible is due back to the government the day it’s paid

2) The amount of the erroneous payment or overpay- ment, as determined by the Minister, constitutes a debt due to Her Majesty in right of Canada, as of the day on which it was paid, that may be recovered by the Ministe
