Hi,

In March 2014 i was deported from the US for lying on my ESTA. I think they told me it was a 5 year ban.

I lied about being arrested for posession of marijuana in 2012. In Sweden such an offence will be erased from the record after 5 years so my record is clean.

Do I have to do anything special to apply for a Visitors Visa?

Many thanks!

It's quite likely you are inadmissible to Canada and will have to apply for rehabilitation before you can apply to come here as a visitor. Details about the rehabilitation process can be found in the link below (note that processing can take many months to complete).

Assuming you are Swedish, you can also try applying for an eTA first (an eTA is what you need to come to Canada as a visitor). Make sure you declare the offence as well as the ESTA refusal in your application (otherwise you'll end up with a 5 year ban from Canada too). If the eTA is approved, then you can travel to Canada without applying for rehabilitation. If the eTA is refused, then you'll need to apply for rehabilitation before you can reapply to come to Canada.
