So you think it should be that fast? I called CIC today and unhelpful lady told me only that they have 6 months.
My PP was received in Ottawa last Thursday and today I received the COPR, so just over 1 week.

That is different case - my application is approved right now, so I am just waiting for papers coming back.

Does anybody please know if, once you've received CoPR, you have to activate it on your very next entry to Canada?

I am based in Canada and have a trip coming up in the next couple of weeks. If I were to do my landing requirements under CoPR on my return from that trip, my PR card would likely not get back to me before I had to leave on my next trip. That would, I fear, cause me problems on my return as I would be attempting to enter Canada as a PR without my PR card.

I have a valid PGWP which should allow me re-entry from the first trip unless not triggering my CoPR would cause bigger problems.

Any help much appreciated.

If you already live in Canada, you have two options to become a permanent resident:

You can make an appointment at a Citizenship and Immigration (CIC) office near where you live in Canada. To do this, contact CIC’s Call Centre at 1-888-242-2100. You cannot call this number if you are outside Canada.

If your permanent resident visa (or one of your family’s) expires in two months or less, please tell the Call Centre that you need urgent processing.

If you are not able to make an appointment as set out above, you may leave Canada and return through an international airport or a Canadian land border.

When you arrive, a CIC officer will interview you, and grant you entry into Canada based on the information in your visa.

In either case, you will have to show the officer:

your passport, travel or identity document (including your visa sticker, if you have one), and
your Confirmation of Permanent Residence, permanent resident visa, letter of introduction or any instructions from the Canadian visa office, and
your proof of legal status in Canada, such as a valid work permit, study permit, temporary resident permit, or visitor document, or any immigration document you have (whether valid or not), or
proof of implied status (if you applied to extend your stay before it ended). Proof of this status may include:
payment receipt,
copy of your application to extend your stay,
printout of online application, or
proof of mailing.
Note: You must leave Canada, enter another country and re-enter Canada to become a permanent resident at an international airport or Canadian land border. If you need a visa to enter another country before you re-enter Canada, it is up to you to get the visa.

You will do these procedures at the first place you arrive in Canada. If you are travelling by air, make sure you have time before any connecting flight or other travel.

If you choose to leave and re-enter Canada at a land border, especially during the peak periods of weekends and holidays, you may have a long wait time for service.

Thanks, LotusEsp.

That's very useful but doesn't particularly answer my question.

Do I HAVE to activate my PR status on my first return to Canada or can I return from one trip on my PGWP even though my CoPR has been sent out?

Or, and I guess I may be answering my own question here, will my PGWP be effectively cancelled once my CoPR is sent out?

Thanks again.

They will cancel your previous visa and you will be given a single entry visa. So you can travel before sending in the passport for COPR.

Finally joined the club! I got my PPR today and will send my passport to Ottawa during the weekend. The problem is I am going aboard for a conference on Sep 4, will it be enough time to get my passport back? What is the normal turnover time for PPR? Thanks.

Glad to see so many receiving PPRs :D

April applicants are really clearing out.

BTW guys, for all those who did the landing already. Has your ECAS changed at all?
Mine is still showing status as Decision Made.

Hi Guys,

Anyone plans to land in the next one or two weeks in BC?
