I wish that was true. I am also in similar situation. The wait time is multiple decades (if not 50 years).

I am a permanent resident in Canada. My cousin is in US who just graduated in December. Considering the present situation in US, she wants to move into canada. What are the options? If someone can shed some light, that will be great.
Thanks,
Satya.
Shereef said:She needs to apply through express entry like everyone else, mean time continue her life like the usual.
Pre requisites for applying are IELTS and WES (equivalency for her educational certificates)
I am sure you know since you are PR
if she doesn;t have experience she should then maybe go and do masters there and then apply through EE
aj355 said:@satyasuman first step is to calculate the CRS score at www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp (current cut-off score is 415).
If her score is above the cutoff, then give the IELTS (http://ieltsregistration.org) and get the transcript evaluation done by WES (www.wes.org/ca/fswp/) (assuming she graduated from U.S. university).
After having IELTS and WES reports, create a profile online in mycic account for express entry. See details at www.canada.ca/ExpressEntry
and http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/express-entry-step-by-step-instructions-t273928.0.html;msg4108507#msg4108507
She should need to qualify for FSW (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-factors.asp) and apply through express entry as everyone else.

boatyyo said:My priority date is from March 2012, back then it seemed i would get GC in 5 years, its 2017 now and by today's calculations it will take another ~5 years since the current dates for eb2 are 2009. I really don't want to wait till 2022 and then wait 5 more years and so on. This whole greencard wait thing sucks big time. rj16 said:Per country limit on employment based immigration sucks, but honestly, if I saw people from only 2-3 countries flooding my country through immigration, I wouldn't like it. I think Canada has a sensible approach for this, completely skills based immigration. Even then we see so many people migrating from India, at least they are skilled in what Canada is looking for. US should adopt a similar approach, but in my opinion, their bar needs to be much more higher than Canada. They should be looking for people with very high education and/or skills in particular fields that they have a need for.

I am in the same boat.
Been in US for the past 7 years, first on student, now on work visa.
The picture is really gloomy at the moment.
I was approached by a consultancy in Canada with the prospect of PR in Canada.
I researched the entire "PR without a job" scenario and came to the conclusion that only CAN and AUS offer this option.
But, you know what, I feel it is just too good to be true.
I would like to know frank answers from senior members over here if there is any catch in both these countries being "generous" to immigrants.
I have read about people on PR in Canada doing odd jobs just to survive.
I mean, at least in US, I am doing the job that relates to my education.
I totally agree that the immigration system in US is broken beyond repair.
So, as an Indian immigrant, are CAN and AUS the only options?
