Assalamualaikum brothers...

I have sent completed application (all forms and docs) as in the checklist except one PCC from foreign country ( I am working on to get that) on 17th Nov 2011 through DHL and It reached CIC office in Canada on 21st Nov 2011.

Can anybody tell me how long I may need to wait to get the first response from CIC, like result of "Completeness check" for "Eligilibility review"?

when shall I receive UCI number to check online application status?

Thanks
Dear Mr. Reazur,

welcome to the DARK TUNNEL OF WAITING....Its the start. Better to forget that u have applied for PR. Otherwise u will suffer a lot. In terms of taking any decision. Its my personal experience. Please live normal and proceed as usual. Its now your luck. It may be very quick or delayed. dont expect very quick response as CIC is under huge back log. Usually it takes 2/3 months to get first reply from them.

Wish u all the best. Sorry for telling hard words.

Dependant column

Hello all:
Since I do not have any dependents I took out the dependent part from my generic form by pressing "take out this dependent" :) Hope that's not a problem. Any advice on that?

These information are correct. When you will land here, may be you will find that the price is higer than BD (coz you have bought the CAD from BD). Keep in mind you will have to spend around 2500 ~ 3500 CAD for initial settlement (It may vary person to person). Try to get a contract for your apt. for 6 months (normally they will ask you for 1 year contract which is a long time). Try to avoid the Basement (though it will be furnished, you will find it hard in winter). Try to rent your apt./house near Subway station (if you can't try to rent it just beside the bus stop). It will give you comfort untill you buy your own CAR.

The most important things you will have to but after you rent your house/apt is your Laptop, Cell Phone (Try to avoid contract, untill you find a job) and get the internet connection (without internet connection you are no where even if you are in Canada). For newcomers, you can try to rent your 1st apt. near Victoriapark & Danforth, Danforth & Pharmacy, Danforth & Main. The neighbor hood is not that much nice, but you will feel comfort for the first few months as you are new here. After getting a job, eventually you will shift to a new location where ever you like.

The initial settlement is very important. I will say, the 1st 3 month will be the most critical part of your life in Canada. If you can come over successfully, you will find it easy in the long run.

Cheers

SZaman,

I have mailed CITI NA and Woori Bank in Dhaka. They replied that they don't issue TC in CAD.
its always the best to use Travellers Cheques when you roam internationally. the safest, if you loose any of them, report it to the issuing agency with the serial number(s). moreover, TC's can't be cashed without your passport and your signature on it/them. As per the reply the banks in Daka issue TC's in USD.

How can I take my money in Canada? Traveler cheque or dollar and how can I manage my cheque or dollar.
Go to Standard Chartered Bank with your passport. They will issue you TC in USD. you need a SCB account. Your friends or relatives account will be ok.
When you open bank account in Canada provide them your TC and they will cash that from USD to CAD

During the Last 5 years!!

Dear all:

Another hick up. In the generic form it asks for countries of residence other than own in the last 5 years! I count five years from November, 2011? It seems to me that should be it, right?
