Hi, I am Tasfin, a bangladeshi national, writing this about a mistake in the marital status field in my COPR document, received on 2015-05-26. It is showing my marital status as Single while I am married. All other personal information is OK.

I got married on March 8, 2015. My wife is a Canadian citizen and currently living with me in Calgary, AB. After I got my marriage certificate, I immediately informed CIC via email on April 09, 2015. I sent my Canadian marriage certificate with the email. Since my wife is a Canadian Citizen, I also provided a copy of her passport and citizenship certificate as a proof with the email.

In the meantime, I received my passport request email on April 10, 2015. Based on the email, I again immediately notified CIC via email to CPC-CTD-Ottawa @ cic.gc.ca on April 11, 2015. I also sent all the relevant documents with the email such as marriage certificate, a copy of my wife's Canadian Passport and Citizenship Card.

However, I never received any email from CIC about this change. I waited till May 9, 2015 (30 days deadline from ready for visa email) and then sent my passport to Ottawa along with a copy of ready for visa email, a letter addressing my marital status change, my marriage certificate and the proof of my wife Canadian citizenship. CIC received the package on May 12, 2015. My immigrant visa and COPR have been issued on May 14, 2015. I got my passport back on May 26, 2105 along with immigrant visa and COPR.

Today, I talked to CIC call center agent Krista, Agent No. #3801 about this issue and she advised me to contact CIC immediately explaining the matter. She also advised me to postpone my landing until this issue is resolved.

Any advise?? should i wait for reply?? or send copr with pasport back with a letter explaining the issue? also can i still land using the existing copr and tell border officer that i am married to correct the info??

really appreciate any expert opinion.

Hi Bro,

My personal advise will be to fly CA as soon as you can because your spouse is CA citizen already and there is no issue about to stay together at there. I don't think you need to wait here for longer time as it couldn't resolve here very soon.

Meantime you could send all of your documents again to CIC to change your marital status and same time your spouse should change her marital status at CA immigration dept.

Hope it may help you.

No, he can't land now with wrong information on the CORP. It will be misrepresentation and will be a federal crime. He need to wait to add his spouse on
his application and change of the CORP.

Yes, still remain 4th line. no update. I have sent all require documents via courier to Manila. they received it on Monday, 5/25/15 9:46 . But got no any update from there end. Could you please tell me how many days may be I have to wait for any update.

Hasib

Usually VO executes for additional family members in the PA application within 1~2 weeks time after receive the full set of docs. As for SGVO, usually they don't send any acknowledge of receipt but sometime they send email / mail confirmation for adding family member's. I hope Manila also follow the same procedure.

However for your case, your province authority may notify you about your adding spouse in your application that could be sufficient for the acknowledgement.

Next step would be to wait for your spouse MR, otherwise if you receive your PPR before your spouse MR then you can understand that your spouse didn't add your application.

Hope it may help you to get an idea of the process...

Best of luck.

I think that was not wrong information in CORP. It was missing to update that his not mistake. It was not updated his spouse in his application in time. My understanding is though his spouse is staying in CA and citizen and they can update it inside in CA for their marital status. I don't find any wrong about this procedure. Otherwise it may take long time to adding spouse after issue CORP...

Citizenship/PR status of the spouse doesn't matter. During landing all information need to be accurate and same as CORP. Otherwise it will be misrepresentation.
That's why we need to inform CIC about change in family structure and keep information up to date regardless about the extra time that it will take.

+1 for you for sharing this info...

This is good sign for those applicants which are stuck from May'14, and now started moving by site visit/employer verification.

Hope you will hear your good next step very soon.

By the way would you please share your office visit formalities by CHC with us. That could be help for other here...

Best of luck.
Thanks all for ur feedback. Two officials from local VO visited my office on 19th may. They talked with my colleague to be confirmed about my designation. They collected my visiting card, chkd my pay slip, asked about job duration and left my office stying around 8/10 min.

zstream bhai, can you please tell me whether the list of examples given by CIC of changes in circumstance is exclusive? I mean, do CIC officers expect us to notify them of any changes in life? What do you think?

Here is an example. If an applicant gets PR to USA/UK/AUS while his Canadian application is in process, should he inform CIC? I know for a fact that people apply for PR to multiple countries at the same time. I know several who applied like that.

List of example is same as AOR and can be found

When should I contact CIC? section of this link -

I don't know much about what happens when other countries PR is achieve in the middle of processing of FSW. But as I understand it, PR time always starts after you landed in a country.
So if your already a PR from another country you mentioned it in the generic form/travel and background form. And if you got the PR in middle of the processing, you will get the visa and make landing, those information are visible from you passport or your updated background information file that they check before issuing visa

CHC shouldn't ask anybody who is not authorized person to provide any official personal matter to them. They should contact that person who has issued the ref letter or from any HR personnel to provide them their required information of that employee.

Otherwise it looks odd for CHC and unprofessional job from them...
