Hi guys,

I understand the process for adding a new child to the CEC application is to provide CIC with a birth certificate. I have been told it may take up to a month to get the birth certificate through a registry and am not sure if there is a faster process. Has anyone gone through the process in Alberta?

Have you contacted the VO and asked specifically what is required?

Your child is Canadian, so s/he doesn't have to be added as a dependent to your PR application. I believe you just need to update a form or two to list him/her.

I have, and I was told they just require a birth certificate. I'll try to see if I can get one faster

Please update how you tackled the situation to get the speedy birth certificate?

When you signed the child registration form in hospital, in how many days the data was updated in the vital statistics system and when did you apply for birth certificate after that?

My baby was born on July 4th 2015 , Calgary and i went to registry to apply for Birth certificate on july 24th . Registry told me it may take upto 6 weeks but the birth certificate was delivered in 5 days. It takes about 3 weeks for them to update the system after the child is born. another thing is when you apply for your child's passport apply at passport office it takes 2 weeks where service Canada takes 5-6 weeks.

I read in PP office if you apply for rush service by paying 110 CAD additional, u will get PP the evening of next business day.

i do not know the rush service charges but regular are $57 and 2 weeks.
when you go to registry they will ask for your photo id and few questions about baby's birth, mothers name and all , no other form is needed.

i am in similar situation, i am cmng to Canada for delivery of my new born, Can you guide me about fast delivery of Birth Certificate and Passport? I need to fly back immediately after birth?
