Hi Fellas, hopefully soon I'll be moving Canada. I would need to bring around $CAD 15,000 to Canada, not sure what is a good way to do it?

I was searching around Google and came to know the known banks such as RBC, BOM and Scotia are availing new comers to open a bank account and transfer funds before moving to Canada, has anyone done this?

Help will be well appreciated, for me and next ones to read- thank you. :)

Is a wire transfer not an option for you?

Wire transfer can be done if you already have opened an account in Canada in your name.

I have never been to Canada before, you mean opening a bank account from here providing all the documents as offered by RBC?
Yes like Scotia Bank Newcomers account. Haven't looked in to RBC yet

I need to open a bank account first, do not know anyone who has done this before. :(
I am going to do the same. I suggest you open a FCY account in Pakistan and start buying USD to make the wire transfer from your account to your new CAD account.

Great, have you done so?

We can show their bank statement at the immigration control?
Yes according to their website once the funds have been transferred to your account they will provide an email confirmation of the balance in your account which can be used at the border as a proof of funds transfer.

I would suggest asking the directly and searching for other banks like RBC and CIBC of what sort of services they are offering? I could use some collaboration on this.

Yes, sure. I had some correspondence with RBC, they have similar service asking a number of forms to be filled, attested by lawyer/notary and provide two forms of identification. What about Scotia?
Can you PM me your email/number so we can work on this together and may be will be of help to each other, further? :)

Yea sure. Let me explore the Scotia option first and I'll drop you an inbox. What sort of forms and how much time it would take to get all the documentation done ? CIBC is also another option..

I have not explored CIBC yet, but time for RBC, I guess should not take more than a week, once they receive the docs (paper form). But to be honest, I am not happy with RBC services it offers. I presume, others offers a safety deposit too which is very good to secure important docs while hustling.

Also, unsecured credit cards to build a credit history.
