You must spend 2 out of every 5 rolling years in Canada to keep your PR status. So theoretically you can stay in your current country for three years. However after that three year period is over you must then return to Canada and remain in Canada without leaving for 2 straight years.

Just to be clear, once you receive the actual PR visa you must land in Canada before the expiry date of your visa. This will be one year at most (likely less).

Once you have landed, there is certainly a limit on how long you can stay in your current country. Again, you must live in Canada for 2 out of every 5 years to keep your PR status.

Ok. Got it.

Just to let you know about my procces and if you know something that would help me or something I need too know please post here.

My wife is canadian, she lives outside of Canada. We sent our papers at May 2014. We sent everything, medical, police certificate and all they need.. 10 days ago thay sent us e-mail and they said "in order to conclude your application apllication" we had to pay RPRF. We paid it 10 days ago and faxed it to Mississauga.
I thought I will get Visa soon, but I read on forum that some of them were waiting 2,3,4 months after they paid.

I would appreciate everything you can post to help me.

Thanks again ;D

Note that after you become PR, you can live anywhere in the world as long as you live together with your Canadian citizen wife. This is because living with your Canadian spouse abroad counts as if you spent that time living in Canada for PR RO. This is a special exception. So you can live abroad as long as you want with no limit and keep your PR as long as you are living with your wife. Not that these days count for PR but NOT for citizenship.

You should keep in mind though that if you and your spouse really never come back to Canada and 'live' they might later come back and revoke the visa saying your sponsor never intended to reside in Canada, which is a REQUIREMENT for obtaining a spousal PR visa.

As long as you land before the expiry date that will be printed on your COPR you're golden :D

Hello,
I get answer from Vieanna Imigration that my application reached final stage and I have to send my pasport withinh 30 days.

Can I go personaly to Vienna and give them pasport?
And does anybody know how will they work in next 10 days because of holidays.

Thanks :D
