Hi there, I hope someone can help us!
1. Is there ANY other way for my husband (Canadian citizen) to be recognized as our daughter's father legally if he is not in her birth certificate? (For example, will she be seen as his dependent child and be eligible for a Canadian Citizenship if we submit a paternity test?)
We have started a process of obtaining a new birth certificate from Latvia with his name in there but it's taking forever and we don't know if it will be even possible.
2. Me and my daughter (8 months old) arrived in Canada on May 2nd, 2017 as tourists (we didn't need a visa but we can stay here for 6 months, country of origin: Latvia). Me and my husband got married on 31st May. We waited around 12 weeks for our marriage licence to come and we could be applying for an inland or outland Sponsorship now. We recently applied for another 6 month extension to be able to stay in Canada but have no answer yet. We're a bit confused whether we can apply for an inland Sponsorship while waiting for the extension (in case it gets denied, does the Sponsorship gets canceled?). We'd prefer to apply for an inland because I do not wish to return to Latvia in case there will be a need for an interview. I really hope we won't have to leave Canada and be separated but if that's the case, me and my daughter will be going to Germany (as my parents live there) until we can return to Canada.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
