Pre-Assessed..
I'm a born Canadian temporarily living in China. I want to invite a friend to come visit my home when I have to return this summer. I have to return or lose my OHIP. I've read this can be tough, but all the things I read were for getting a spouse a visitor visa. My friend is self employed which means she works mostly seasonaly. she has no money really, I'd lend her some but read that they want to see money there for months. She has family, but no house or car. i plan on writting an invitation letter stating she will stay in my home and pay her own expenses. I have no family living in the house. I will provide my bank records. I have only my passport as ID with me, Do i need my birth certificate? I will write a small travel plan also. We will both return to China in Sept.
Any thoughts if possible to get a visa, tips or advise?
Also we can apply in person to either Hong Kong or Beijing, any thoughts on if one office is more strict than the other?
thanks for any replies, Ted

Usually people in this forum went to Visa Application Centre to submit their applications. For more info, check this website: http://www.vfs-canada.com.cn/

You can also apply in the Canadian consulates in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chongqing and Beijing

Yes thankyou for a reply, I'm looking for others experience. Actually the Visa centes are Hong Kong and Beijing. I am close to Guangzhou and Hong Kong. I wonder if Hong Kong might be more or less strict on the application.
My friend does not have much money or holdings. I'm looking for a method to show she will return.

No, actually Shanghai is also processes temporary resident visas and work permit applications.
