Please, I just received an ADR. They requested that I provide an explanation on the person that I filled in as my conjugal/partner common law partner.
This is a girlfriend I intend to marry, but I added her in the space of spouse. I don't have any document for the relationship yet. Please, how do I go about this explanation?

So you are common law or conjugal…big difference between the two. Where do you live and where does partner live?

If you aren't married and haven't lived together for at least one full year continuously to be classified as common law, then you should not have included this person in your application. You are single.

She is just a girlfriend, I live Canada but she lives in my home country. I didn't add her as accompanying person. I only added her because they said any of my relatives that I fail to mention that I can't sponsor them in the future.

She should not be listed in your application at all. She is not a relative of any kind.

You should let IRCC know that you added her incorrectly and ask for her to be removed. You can say that you are just dating at this time and not married or common law.

Please what explanation do you suggest I give now?

Sounds good, thank you so much for this.

Please, will this not fall as a misrepresentation?

I don't know. You'll certainly want to explain why you listed your girlfriend as a family member when she isn't one.

If you feel uncomfortable responding to the ADR on your own then consider hiring a lawyer.

I did not include her in the space for family members, I included her in the space for spouse/common-law/conjugal partner. Although I filled as being single in the application.

Again, she should not have been included. You need to explain why you put her name there.
