Our PR Card is due for renewal. Out of the 5 year period, we were absent from Canada for continuous periods varying between 8 months to 2 years due to the ill health of our elders in our home country.

Since we were there for extended periods, our child had to attend school in our country of origin. However, throughout the periods of absences from Canada, we had Canadian Address on record (with CRA, on our Driving Licenses and Health Cards) as the residence of my brother-in-law, with whom we did stay initially.

Given this situation, for the periods of absence, do we provide the Canadian Address or the Address in our Country of Origin? Help/advice on this question would be deeply appreciated!

Your home country address when you were there. CIC understand you cannot have your home country address on your domestic (Canadian) documents.

You must list where you were actually living. Based on what you said, you were living outside of Canada for a large portion of time. Be sure to list those addresses' you were living at outside of Canada. Listing your address as Canada when you were not in the country is grounds for misrepresentation. Misrepresentation is grounds for revocation of your PR status.
