My son got 6months multiple student visa for Canada but his course is of 2years and his passport is going to expire on 1st march 2012. So what he should do is he had to renew passport and have to take extended visa from India or he can get from Canada? If he get renewed passport and extended visa from Canada then any problem occur during immigration in India or in Canada? If this question occurs then what he should tell in immigration? Please suggest..please reply earlist as possible...

thanks

1. Applicant can apply for new/renew passport at Indian Embassy, Canada.

For more info, visit Indian embassy website

2. Applicant must apply for extended student visa BEFORE the expiry of current valid visa at "Case Processing Centre, Vegreville, Alberta". The process is online, but may take some time. Before immigration authority decide anything, the applicant can continue to stay in Canada. The visa is usually extented unless there is some serious issue.

3. In order to avoid any problem during in/out of Canada appLy for Multiple Entry Visa.

*I am not sure how much time Indian Embassy takes to issue/renew passport (though they claim 1 month). Its better if your son apply for new/renew passport immediately once he land in Canada. In case he fail to get passport before the expiry of current 6 month visa (though its very rare to happen as such) he will be in fix situatiön because he MUST apply for extended visa before the expiry of current one.
