I am now working in Canada under a 2-year work permit (LMIA-based). My wife and sons would like to join me to live here. Can they apply for SOWP, Study Permit (if needed for elementary school) etc. at the port of entry, with / without me travelling with them? We are from a visa-exempt country i.e. can stay in Canada for up to 6 months without a visa. Thanks.

Yes, from visa-exempt country, your wife can obtain open work permit at the port of entry. I do not think your children (minor) would need study permit but your wife can also check with the officer at the border

Your children can enter as visitors and study without a study permit. Ensure that your spouse has a copy of your work permit and requests Visitor Records for the children that match the validity of your work permit.

Thanks for your info. Appreciate them.

Is there any doc, in additional to a copy of my work permit, is needed at the PoE? Birth Certificate? Marriage Certificate etc.?
