Hi,

My child and I are both Canadian PRs (through my spouse) and I am wondering if my child (minor) is able to naturalize (apply for citizenship) without being subjected to the 3-year residency requirements?

Thanks!

Yes, if your spouse is a Canadian citizen or you're applying for citizenship at the same time on the basis of meeting the presence requirement.

Thanks for the reply! I have yet to satisfy the residency requirement for adults but my spouse is a Canadian citizen, so I guess my child can apply for it now? Also, do you happen to know the estimated timeframe (from submitting the application to naturalization)? Thanks!

They say they try to process applications in about a year but that's not guaranteed these days.
