A second visitor visa from within Canada?

The child is still going to high school in Canada. The custodian parent's visitor visa is about to expire. Does the parent need to apply for another visitor visa? The government website says ：

Who can apply for a visitor visa from inside Canada
You can only apply for a visitor visa from inside Canada if you meet all of these criteria:

• already are in Canada
• hold a valid study or work permit
• want to leave and return to Canada in the near future, and
• have an existing visitor visa that’s expired, or is about to expire, or that was valid for only 1 entry

The parent doesn't have a study permit, his child does. He is here as a custodian. Does he show his child's study permit?

The parent doesn't need to apply for a new TRV to remain in Canada. The new TRV is only required if the parent wants to leave and then re-enter Canada. If the parent does want a new TRV, the application must be made outside of Canada. The parent does not meet the criteria to apply inside of Canada.

Presumably the parent has been applying to extend their visit in Canada to keep their status valid while here.
