hello everyone!!

i've looked all over the forum for help regarding this situation... and i have found nothing. so, i had to start a new topic!

i'm sure that this situation isn't serious... i just need some advice, and hopefully i will stop panicking!!

my husband sent his passport and passport request letter to new york last week, however... after he sent it off he realized that he had forgotten to sign and date it (the letter)!! it arrived in new york last tuesday, and i just checked ecas... and it says that a decision is made! could this decision... be bad, because of this silly mistake?! or... perhaps will they just process it anyways. i also checked the fedex tracking number... and it hasn't been shipped off to bermuda yet.

anyone... anyone... have any idea about what could be happening?

Hey Ritosgirl!

The decision made doesn't have anything to do with them actually affixing the visa to the passport- the decision made was when New York made the decision to approve the file- and subsequently sent your husband his passport request (sometimes it takes them a little while to get e-cas updated, so you often get the PPR before e-cas is updated).
In our case for instance, e-cas was updated to "Decision made", which made me realize we were almost done. About 3 days later we got the PPR visa email.

Anyways, basically what I am getting at is the decision has been made before you even sent the Passport, so there is no way it is a "bad decision" because of him not signing the paper. I wouldnt stress girl, worst case scenario if they really NEED the form signed, they will send the passport and form back, requesting a signature and you guys will just have to mail the passport back again.

They may just let is slide though, because strangely, Buffalo never needed any documents signed.

diddagirl!!!

so... i just need to chill out a bit then, eh? :)

thank you so much for replying!!

i have yet another question....

does anyone know how long it takes for the consulate in new york to process the passport request? it has been there for one week... will we have to wait many more weeks before the passport is sent back?!

NY is usually about 15 working days - it should not take more than 30 working days for the passport to be returned - it will most likely be about 15 days, even less seeing as you provided a courier envelope!

thank you fibud! my husband's passport is his only form of indentification... i think that being in bermuda without it is making him a bit nervous!! hopefully it will be sent back soon!

fibud and ritosgirl,

our passports have been in NY CIC office for 22 business days already. Still nothing.

If our case was in Buffalo instead, I would have flown there and hand-delivered it for same day stamping.

proxy!!

it's been 19 business days for my husband now. ugh.

knowing that yours has been there for 22 days... doesn't make me feel much better. however, it looks like there are quite a few of us patiently waiting for them to be stamped and returned. perhaps, they are going to have a big passport stamping and copr party and get them all done at the same time?!

i live in fort erie... about a 10 minute drive over to buffalo. i also have wished many times that my husbands application had just stayed in buffalo... he could have flown here for a few days... we would have went over to buffalo, and landed on the way back.

i'm glad that buffalo felt like they were doing us a favour by "expediting" the applications. but, it's going to take just as long to get the passport back as it did to receive the passport request itself!

hopefully all of our passports are returned quickly!! comparing timelines is kinda fun... having those sweet little passports in our hands is even better!!!

I know! man, every day walking to the mailbox and seeing it empty is starting to get to me. >:(

I even sent them an email 2 days ago, but no replies.

Hoping all is ok and we receive our passports asap!

do you have any good news?

I still haven't received anything.

Now has been 23 business days and 33 total days since they have received our passports.

I sent an email to them on Apr 7th, but they didn't reply.

this is annoying! :o

proxy! it is annoying!! i kept thinking... that today was going to be the day! but, it isn't. i even just checked out the fedex tracking number i have for the envelope that the passport will be sent back in. and it's not even in the system yet! ugh. c'mon new york. we're ready!!!

hey you guys: after your file was transferred to the NYC office, what was the first thing you heard from them? my file went to NYC from Buffalo almost 3 weeks ago, and I'm trying to guess what will happen next. (all my medical testing was done by the designated doctor in Halifax in January. no one has requested anything from me -- at least not yet.) thanks!!1

bonacker!
after my husband's file was sent to NYC, he received another AOR. i noticed that ecas said that his file had been transferred, but it didn't say anything about his medicals being received. so, we sent a fax to ottawa requesting that they forward his medicals onto NYC and also a request to fax back and let us know whether or not they would be forwarding them. about 2 weeks later, my husband received his PPR! so, the file was in NYC for about 6 weeks before we got the request. however... the passport itself has been in NYC for 4 weeks.
does ecas say anything about medicals being received for you? if not... i would definitely send ottawa a fax!

There's someone else on the forum who basically got the PPR request directly without an AOR from NY...so i think the procedure is quite random.

nothing is mentioned in my eCas thing about medicals at all.

okay, i guess i'll fax!

thanks so much.
