It might be faster to submit an Outland application, which you can do even if you are in Canada. Most (especially Americans) seem to prefer that, even though it means they do not qualify for an OWP. Since it may take >8 months to even see an OWP, you could complete the process before then with an Outland application. Check the current outland thread to see what's happening now.
