OK - Sorry about the newbieness of some of these questions but I want to make sure I have 100% understanding of information that I have gleaned from CIC website... a few addnl questions, and expect more as they come up.

1. According to CIC US citizens not working in health care jobs and certain NAFTA qualifying jobs, do not necessarily need a medical exam?

2. As a US citizen would I need to take the language test? English is my primary language...

3. Would a US High School diploma = Canadian secondary school diploma?

4. Any certifications or licences I obtain in the US = Canadian equivalents?

Thanks for any replies.

1. Correct.

2. Language test are mandatory for anyone applying to immigrate. You won't need to take IELTS for a work permit - but you will if/when applying to immigration. It doesn't matter what your primary language is.

3. Yes.

4. I don't know the answer - but this is likely way too general a question. I would narrow it down to a few professions / occupations.

A rewording of question 4...

If say I attended college say, here in Missouri, in a program for Welding... Would that welding certification carry over to Canada - or will I have to recertify when(if) I get accepted to work there in a job with in that field?
