Hello there I am a US citizen applying for outland PR for Canada. My wife is currently living in Toronto and me Boston.

I am currently gathering all the paperwork. I hear the FBI check takes the longest so I'm praying my prints don't get rejected (4 weeks so far in wait time).

Now my question is that on form: imm0008 it says space reserved for photo. Do we put an immigration photo here? Or do they do this?

Also, is it MANDATORY that I supply a birth certificate or is a marriage certificate alone ok?

Thanks so much

The instructions say to put your photos in an envelope, not glue them to the form. This is on page 16 in your guide, see http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/3999E.pdf

If your checklist says you need a birth certificate, then you should send one. You can find your checklist here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/3910e.pdf

It says:

IDENTITY AND CIVIL STATUS DOCUMENTS
Provide birth certificates, baptismal certificates, national identity card or certificate (Cedula) where available, or other official document confirming relationship (including all pages of Household Registries) for you and each of your family members.
If you are married, you must include a marriage certificate. If you are now divorced, you must include final divorce certificates; if separated, a separation certificate. If your marriage was annuled, a copy of the annulment. If your former spouse or common-law partner is deceased, you must include your spouse’s or partner’s death certificate. Photocopy of Citizenship Certificate or Immigrant or Permanent Resident Visa for any family members who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada.
If you are in a common-law or conjugal relationship, provide proof of that relationship.

Does this mean it is mandatory to include birth certificate? It is unclear to me.

Yes, do include it.
