Is there really no rule that says that those who have spent their 6 months on a tourist visa in Canada have to wait another 6 months before coming back again?
I know that there are visa extensions that allow a person to stay longer for consecutive periods, but outside of this, I had always thought that a person had to be gone for 6 months before attempting to return to Canada. I'm from the UK if this is relevant.

No, there is no such rule. Of course if and how long you are allowed into Canada is always up to CBSA.
