A candidate’s CRS score was previously 495, but after October 1, 2026, it increased to 520, apparently because the candidate would have completed two years of Canadian work experience on December 1, 2026.

However, the candidate’s PGWP extension was refused on October 4, and they stopped working following the refusal. Their Express Entry profile was updated to reflect the current situation, but the CRS score is still showing as 520.

If the candidate receives an invitation to apply for permanent residence in an upcoming draw, would they be eligible to submit their application? Can they rely on the displayed score of 520 even though they have not completed two full years of Canadian work experience?

They submit when they have two years of experience within 90 days of invitation. If they cannot due that then they decline ITA. So if work permit refused then they cannot complete 2 years so decline. They should change their profile to reflect not having two full years.

Thank you for the response. The candidate has already updated their Express Entry profile with October 4, 2026, as the end date of their Canadian employment, but their CRS score is still showing as 520 despite not having completed two full years of Canadian work experience. What should the candidate do if they receive an ITA now based on the displayed score of 520?

They decline ITA if they don't have two full years of Canadian work experience.
